We’re new to camping in the River Bend campground this year (we’ve always done on-site). Does anyone know if there is a vehicle line-up ahead of opening the campground on Thursday morning ? Is is not that busy? Any other info/tips from someone who has camped there, I’d be grateful. We’re a group of 6 adults and 4 kids, hoping to try the family quiet area this time…
Hey Lindsey! I don’t camp in Riverbend but a lot of my friends are down there. There is some sort of a line for getting in. I just wanted to recommend if you are looking for a quiet spot to stay away from the tree with the chandeliers. Really pretty spot near the river but it attracts a lot of pickers. Great for listening but I heard that some kids had some drunk people fall on them in their tent in the middle of the night in that area. Thinking that everyone needs to have a wonderful festival that is my only riverbend advice. There are lots of quieter areas as that seems to be the only place the all night pickers congregate in that camp area. I hope that helps some!!! have a lovely festival!
Generally the more active all night picking is along the river side from parking lot to the big tent to the large tree to the house. Last year it seemed more quiet if you went all the way down the road to the end of the camping area past the house.
We’ve camped in River Bend the past three years, and will be there again this year. Not sure how the vehicle line works, we’ve done the people line on Thursday morning to get in and get our space. Last two years we were pretty close to the river, but kinda straight back if you follow the road that goes into the campground. We have a big group with kids, it was pretty chill back there. There’s a big mulberry tree back there that looks like it’ll be great for shade, but ends up dropping berries everywhere that stain and attract yellow jackets, so we’ll be avoiding that this year, but going for the same general area.
We camped at Riverbend last year for the first time. Usually camp on site, basically behind the musicians area. We thought the Riverbend was pretty chill as compared to the picking on site. Being right by the river and the grassy areas are a plus for kiddos, but there was picking going on till the wee hours. Don’t want to high jack the thread, but does anyone know how the line up for land grab at Riverbend is going to work this year? I know PBG staff said last year that there wasn’t going to be a lineup forming until Thursday @ 8 or 9 AM, violators could be trespassing etc. Anyone in the know?
Cheers
I have camped in Riverbend since it opened. There is no car lineup. You need to get in line with your tarps, get your spot then go back for your car. Last year we lined up in Riverbend, but it sounds like this year we will have to line up on the road. As it is private property, and there are other guests staying there, they don’t want people lining up at 3 am and disturbing the guests. We will see how it actually pans out this year. The chandelier tree area is definitely the most rowdy spot in the camp as well!
If I just show up on Friday morning will I still be able to get a reasonable spot? Small footprint … Just need a 7 ft by 9 ft space. Wondering how necessary it is to line up if I am not picky about spots (other than not wanting to be by right next to the bathrooms).
New to Riverbend this year. Are there facilities like Meadow Park or is it just some grass to throw down some tents?
Also, is there a designated family camp area? I feel like I checked that off when i was buying the camping pass but don’t see it on my print out.
Thanks!
