RIP, Our Favorite Hippie

Per Hooch:

Guys, I don’t know how to even say this, so I’ll just say it. Hippie Jerry was killed last evening in a car accident on his way to Telluride. See the link below. As of now, they will officially release his name in about 2 hours. Still processing here. I love you all. More later.

Please travel safe, Festivarian Friends. Peace, love, & bluegrass… cheers to our favorite Hippie.

I got the official word myself just a few minutes ago after seeing the article and not knowing who it was.
I’m sure we will hold a ceremony for him in Run-a-muck.
It’s a sad day indeed. :flower

One of my favorite motivators… Hippie Santa and his buddy, Rich. Love that smile.

I’m heartbroken and in shock.

Such a lovely human so full of love.

May the four winds carry his hippie soul safely home. :angel

Hippie is, was, and always will be Run A Muck. RAM does not exist w.out him. I’m in complete shock, to say the least. My head feels like it’s going to explode.

Oh man, this is terrible news. Peace and love everyone.

Keep each other close. Will see you all in a couple days to pass out hugs.

Absolutely the worst news one can get on the long drive from home to our Telluride home. I remember meeting Jerry his first tbf when Holly and Jerry camped next to us. He already had this crazy idea for forming a community camp that would have it’s own entertainment. What Runamuck would be was already in his mind. The Hippie from Olema radio show and Festivarian chat room used to be a great way for us to keep the fesivarian vibe going all year. One of the first people to reach out to me upon hearing the news yesterday was my friend Adam Greuel from Horseshoes and Hand Grenades and we both remembered that the first time they played a show in Telluride was at Runamuck shortly after I introduced them to Jerry. I believe the video of them jamming with Barefoot Kenny and John Wood is still on YouTube. One of our favorite memories from 2012. On our trips to Hardly Strictly Jerry always was the perfect host making sure everyone was having a great time. On the way out to Telluride I was concerned about whether my Jeri’s sore knee would hold up or if Sam Bush would be able to make it number 45. But never imagined that we would have to deal with this, it most definitely takes the wind out of our prefest sails. This is going to be a hard week without our good friend but I can’t imagine any place else I would want to be. I feel so very grateful to have known and had have Jerry as a friend. See you soon my good friends and Runamuck sisters and brothers.

:broken_heart:

All hail the one-and-only, the original Foot Slave and the heart of Town Park, our Hippie Jerry. We love and cherish you always!

So sad to hear this. I can’t believe it’s 10 years this year since I made my way to my first TBF, and Hippie Jerry was such big part of what made it an amazing experience for me: his food, his camp, his friendship. Not to mention hosting our wedding celebration with Tim O’Brien in 2011. He will be greatly missed, and I’m sure his spirit will live on at Telluride.

Jerry you will be missed. Jerry helped me build the broadcast studio for Radio Sunnyside (KSZN 101.5 FM Flagstaff) in Flagstaff, AZ back a bunch of years ago. We met at TBF many years ago and when I put ou the call for volunteer help to start up the radio station jerry was one of the first to respond. Thanks Jerry for all of your help. The universe just lost a good man.

RUM group photo 2014. It was my 1st time back since 1982 and boy had it changed. Both Tom & Jerry made me feel right at home and I will always cherish the time we spent together. RIP Hippy, although it will never be the same without you, long live RUM!

:peace :peace :peace :peace :peace
Wordless. Crushed, again. Really hoping everyone’s TBF46 is full of loving times, sharing the Hippie way.
I know I’ll never soak in any springs without thinking of Jerry. :love :flower
