We were real happy with the procedure last year and the use of the farm for the parking. The ONE area of concern for our group on the load in was once we got in and unloaded, our driver was given a real hard time to get back into the venue.
Would it be possible to give drivers a stamp (or old wrist band?) on the way in, so that once they quickly unload (which we know PB appreciates!), they can get back into the campground with their group after they park?
Agreed. We’ve been going for 10 years. Never had an issue until last year. I was the one driving, as always, and had to wait about 45 minutes to get in after dropping the car off. Many people in line with me had unattended children inside. If drivers are not allowed back in until the gates open to foot traffic, it only encourages people to take more time unloading and setting up before removing their vehicles and we all know that doesn’t do anybody any good. Thanks for your help with this.
So I actually sent PB an email concerning this very thing. This was their response.
“Thanks for your patience while I chatted with my team. We appreciate your feedback and we have a solution that allows people back into the campground who have already set up their camping spot, and moved their car to the farm, without having to wait for all of the other vehicles to load in. We will have details posted to the website before RockygrasS.”
I just got an email from PB that the load in procedure page has been updated.
In the interest of encouraging people to quickly unload their vehicles and return them to The Farm parking area during the onsite camping load in, Planet Bluegrass is enacting a new re-entry policy. We recognize that some campers will be able to unload their equipment, return their car to The Farm parking area, and walk back to the onsite campground before the pedestrian campers are released into the campground. In the past, these campers who have quickly unloaded and gotten their vehicle moved to make room for fellow Festivarians have had to wait with the Pedestrian line to re-enter the onsite campground. In order to encourage prompt vehicle removal and reduce wait times for people returning from parking their car, the following policy will be in place during the 2019 load in.
Drivers will retain their line number after it is checked by staff members as they enter the property.
Once their car is returned to The Farm parking area, the driver can walk back and present their number to the front gate attendant between “waves” of vehicles to be let back into the property before the pedestrian line is released.
NOTE: The returning Festivarian can NOT bring anything into the grounds with them upon their return.
Planet Bluegrass generally runs on a common sense policy. I would just have someone else grab your stuff at camp. I’m sure a water bottle wouldn’t hold you back.
This probably applies to only about 20-30 people every year. Let’s not ruin it…
