Just returned from NWStringSummit, Horning’s Hideout OR. Made a point to check out Billy Strings bc of earlier post here, and he is fantastic. Huge energy and great songs and mad guitar skills. He also easily led a workshop with some of the real guitar greats present, held his own in a quite mature way (and he looks about 17).
L’il Smokies played the tent after Yonder’s last mainstage set of wkend. Tent was packed and the crowd was enthusiastic and appreciative. But no Cameron on mandolin, and no replacement and no word on why. Their web site says “6 member band” for next show in Bend . . . anyone know what’s up? I really missed his sound and presence even tho they killed it, it was a great way to end the festival.
Also was blown away by dominant presence of Arthur Lee Land in a number of workshops, tho nothing on main stage. Have I ever seen him at TBF? Will I ever?
