Questions about camping near Ouray Hot Springs

This year, instead of doing what I call the “drive of shame” back
to Boulder on the Monday after Telluride, I am looking at camping
someplace close to Ouray Hot Springs and taking in a long hot
soak (then doing the drive home on Tuesday). I’m betting
Telluride Tom will have the answer to this, but what are the
closest campgrounds to Ouray Hot Springs?

Thank you kindly in advance.

I know there is a KOA campground just outside of Ouray. Orvis hotsprings has it’s own campground.

:wave Orvis is already booked solid. Plenty of room for day soakers though.

You can camp anywhere on the National forest lands surrounding Ouray/Ridgeway.

What about an evening soaker? I would truly love to sit back in a hot spring and take in as many stars as I can. It’s open till 10pm correct? Advance reservations required for an hour soak? Useless isn’t as much of a hot water person as I am so an hour would probably be sufficient.

you are correct useless or is it jo? You guys better get shirts made that tell us who is useless and who is jo… LOL LOL LOL

I second that motion! I’d love to do some hot spring soaking - star gazing whilst in Colorado, sounds like a real treat!

Thank you, everyone! Looks like I’ll check the KOA then do one of the hot springs places. Thanks again!
