Preliminary 2012 lineup

Let’s get some Thee, Stranded Horse up in here.

OK folks, I just bought 2 tickets to see ER and The Stringdusters at the Sheridan tomorrow night.

I’ll see if I can get any info from ER about TBF. They’ve been playing with LoS and The Dusters lately, so I’ve got to believe that the chances of them being at TBF are pretty good.

By the way, if any of you locals are going to the show tomorrow night, let me know. It would be great to meet up. :cheers

:thumbsup Nice RfO, must be ski week again! How great to have such a fine SOH show going on too! Someday, when my nephew leaves the Vail Valley (ya right?), we’ll have to ski T’ride again…have a fun FestivaaalNight! :cheers

That’s awesome! Can you get Noam Pikelny to play with his new band too? Just wishin’…

Ski week it is. Not much snow out there from what I can tell but whatever they’re got is still infinitely better than what I’ve got at home. And I get to start off vacation with a fun show at the Sheridan. I don’t see any downside at all!

I’m personally hoping Noam makes his vocal debut at the festival, particularly some of the vocals he had to cut from his solo album.

:lol :lol :lol Did you see the mocumentery of Naom & Steve Martin?

Well, buddy, you all have a great time while the rest of us are stuck here in the flatlands. Bring us back some Fat Tire, okay? :cheers

That’s exactly what I was referencing when I mentioned the cut vocals…

Bluegrass Diva! http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/1352170045/bluegrass-diva-with-steve-martin-ed-helms-and-noam-pikelny

u ready for an ear full of turd? :lol

Very excited to see Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas. Also Leftover Salmon.

If they’re taking requests I’d sure like to see Iron & Wine make or visit.

Also, we’ve been very much digging Bluegrass Revival. Which since I understand was partially Bela & Sam, might not be that hard to pull off???

I looked at the album cover for Bluegrass Revival (at least one of them). Judging from their hair in the photo, I’d say that album was from the early to mid eighties. So maybe putting Bluegrass Revival back together is not such a reasonable proposition…

Maybe your brain is focused too much on the fact that it’s the Telluride Bluegrass Festival than on your research, cause the group I think you’re referring to was called “Newgrass Revival”. :cheers

Hey Tom, right. Newgrass Revival!

And specifically, the song that comes to mind is “Vamp in the Middle.”

I could probably start a new thread on this one, but I have yet to figure this song out.

Anyone know what Vamp in the Middle means?

Fairly sure on both of these statements:

It’s a John Hartford song

a vamp in the middle is a place for a short (fiddle) break. so there’s a quick fiddle solo between “i wrote this song, with a vamp in the middle” (quick fiddle solo) “and i knew when i wrote it, that i wrote it for the fiddle”

If you like NGR’s version you should definitely check out John Hartford’s album “Aereoplaine.” You might here some other songs you recognize.

Nice, I’m definately going to have to check that out.

:cheers
