OKAY- We are getting down to the wire folks and if you have a TOWN PARK VEHICLE pass it’s time again to decide if you really need it. This seems to be a topic that confuses many people, especially new to Town Park people… Town Park vehicle passes are VERY LIMITED- I think it’s 30 to 1200 campers. As a community, we try and reserve these for our friends who NEED these … These are some of our older campers, those with medical needs and some who have VERY small babies ( although there have been many small babies who have done well in tents.) At this point, we still have several that fit into these categories in need… Oh and another thing to point out, the MAJORITY of townpark is not accessible by a vehicle. You DO NOT NEED a vehicle pass to park in Telluride. You are given time to drive in, dump your stuff and there is FREE PARKING available… If you are holing a vehicle pass and now realize that you REALLY DO NOT need, please contact me 520-360-2126 or PM me and I will make sure it gets to a party that is in need… Thanks Debbie
Think about all the beer, music or tshirts you can buy with that 180.00… plus you will make someone very happy and allow someone else to enjoy the festival as well… think of the good karma that you will bestow on yourself…
Good Points Debbie. The other thing I can add is that if you have walking issues and have HP tags or placard you can park very close to TP camping and have access to your car right outside the camp ground. You won’t need a vechile pass to be close to your tent.
Here’s why I believe you don’t need a vehicle pass, even though you think you do. You might WANT one, but unless you’ve been before, you might not realize how useless and silly they are for most people. I drive my VW Camper to Bluegrass and happily camp in my tent. I’d even say “no thanks” if you offered me a free vehicle pass. Why? Well…
By the time you get to Town Park, all the vehicle spots will be taken and camping in your van will mean parking in the road and not in a nice, official campground spot. All the nice spots are tent spots.
Even if you get there really, really early, all the vehicle spots will be still be taken and camping in your van will mean parking in the road and not in a nice, official campground spot. All the nice spots are tent spots even if you get there really early.
You will not get there early enough to get a nice, official campground spot ahead of the ABGAT team’s arrival unless you are mentally imbalanced, in which case you may qualify for the vehicle pass as a result of your mental handicap.
If you can walk on two feet, get yourself out of bed, and tie your own shoes, you should let someone who isn’t as fortunate as you utilize that vehicle pass.
If you are bringing a newborn infant to Telluride, you’re nuts to be camped in Town Park for a whole week anyway, with or without a vehicle nearby. Get yourself a comfy hotel room. Get yourself some sleep. Stay warm. Join the Town Park melee when that kid can walk on two feet, get herself out of bed, and tie her own shoes.
There’s plenty of free parking outside of Town Park, so the vehicle pass is really for camping. Drive in, unload, drive out, park, festivate madly, rinse, repeat.
