“Telluride Bluegrass Festivarians - Leave your baggage at home”
Just in case the newbies, festivirgins folks don’t know - when you’re packing be sure to consider the trash you bring to Telluride.
If you got that new packaged LED light, take it out of the package before you pack it. Minimize the amount of trash you bring in and the trash you can actually take back, take back. If your camping chair breaks, throw it in your car then turn it into a sculpture for a fountain when you get home.
Of course, kidding, but I’m sure you get what I mean. It has to do with all the trucks of trash we contribute but those details are all blurry to me.
Festivaaaaaaalllllllll. Festivaaaaaaalllllllll.Festivaaaaaaalllllllll. Festivaaaaaaalllllllll.
(I tie dyed my Festival :lol)
Also on the record, this thread doesn’t have to be limited to trash talk :lol.
Like, if you pack your hatchback too full and don’t want to repack it, just put a 2X4 between your stuff and a wall and back up ever so slowly. You’ll get that final shove you needed.
I also like to remember if you’re packin’ ice, in your cooler, and you have more than a short drive, you may want to face the cooler spouts toward the door. I did this and made a little aluminum foil gutter to let the water out without having to adjust all the crap in my car. (I said crap again). :flower
Well,
I am starting packing tonite after pint nite… :cheers!!
I am going to take Danella’s advise about packing each days outfits into
Well not ziplocks but the XL ones, Is there any other tricks I can use?
And if I bring too much I will have to sit on top of the truck,
I also bring a peice of astro turf that i rescued from my old job, it works great as
a front matt for the tent.
thanks
Christy
Nice! Speaking of, us Tiki people need to start working on our “ground”. We also usually dumpster dive some old carpet and recycle it for the Tiki Bar. And Christy, I think I met you at HSBF this year… were you the one that brought the freebox? If so, I will be packing my second hand clothes for sure! I have been very thankful for them over the last months!!!
ok I think I get it, let me see,
remove plastic disposable water bottles from cardboard box and plastic wrap? check
remove paper plates from plastic bag? check
remove disposable cutlery from boxes? check
Ok Ok I’m just kidding, don’t throw stuff at me, or smite me? :cheers
I know Rick, it’s so absurd. I think if Telluride was Los Angeles I wouldn’t even mention it. But the first year I went there was a lot of trash talk on the forum and I thought I would keep it going for the new folks. All those veteran campers, whether new to festival or not, probably think I’m nuts. You know me, you know I’m nuts. :lol
If we could only come up with biodegradable plastic wrap for the stuff that is just wrapped until someone buys it. I always think it’s crazy to put bananas in a plastic bag at the grocery store too. I figure if you’re not going to eat the skin, you don’t need a bag. Then there’s that super hard plastic that stupid things are displayed in that is impossible to open, what’s that about? That’s why I abgat, it takes me a few days to get all these things that concern me at bay and get to chill out mode.
Yes I did bring a free box to HSBG… Ahh there were some great things in there…
Maybe I will bring another free box to telluride to make it easier for people to recycle
clothing and gear, and then I can haul it to the Telluride free box,
And I probably have gear I can part with as well,
Christy
Courtney~
I will be sitting near runnamuck until they become too much for me.
Oh and Karlos and I were cooking abalone last nite, so I have Yet to start packing,
But soon, Tonite, It is 12 days to go Oh dear,
Take care
Christy
Gypsy, :wave A while back you wanted to pack light and still weren’t sure there would be enough room for you to sit inside the truck, then you said you were considering bringing your free box. So maybe a skateboard and a rope to attach to the truck. :eek
Jen’s helping bring some of my load so the goal is to see out the back of the car this year, not get pulled over, and not get lost. Jerry, keep me on speed dial. Maps, put maps on the list of things to get. :lol
By now I should be able to point my car in the right direction and let it do the rest. Then again I would probably end up in New Orleans.
ABALONE, yum. I’ve had to pound a few and it’s always been worth it. You’all have to come to Kim’s birthday party this year. See you soon.
I decided on the way to the last festival, I have a new motto on the car thing… “Seeing out the back window is over-rated”. This seemed to make packing less stressful. (And since we drank all the booze and ate all the food, we could see out the back on the way home.) Good luck Courtness, see ya soon! XO
It does make for a cozy little cacoon driving along and you have more time before you notice the flashing red lights in the rear view mirror. :eek :lol :lol
I thought I was going to fly in, but Now… Well The skate board sounds great!
And the free box will be reusable in some form or another, the word “box” is an overstatemnet.
The Kaptain will make me walk the plank if I take tooo much,
but I always pack too much,
it is part of my charm,
Curious question…or maybe you can help in a discussion between Steve and I…LOL
Has anyone ever pulled a pop-up camper fully loaded for Telluride camping with a newer Minivan ??? ( 2006 Toyota Sienna) Plus we will need to do this in rather HOT ( 105-110) temps and through lots of mountain grades…
normally we let the kids pack when we go camping and try to figure out what they forgot while we are on the way, this year we were putting a list together so I looked at yours. wow, very complete, you are a master indeed.
I have studied everything and only have one question…
