:wave I’ll second what ConnieLV said… Pack everything in a duffle bag and send it to yourself, C/O General Delivery, Telluride, CO 81435.
Several RUNaMuckers have done this through the years with great success. All you have to do is borrow a wagon from a neighboring camp, roll on down to the PO, and retieve your gear.
Parcel post isn’t that expensive, BUT you do want to check and see what the estimated time for shipping from your PO will be. You wouldn’t want to have your camping gear miss you :thumbsup
Fed Ex and UPS will deliver to a street address if you can find a friend in Telluride, we’ve never tried to ship to a town park address… Tom ? Rawn? Bueller? …
That’s a good idea too. I’ve realized that I won’t have a cooler either!
Are you driving from Denver then? I’m flying into Montrose via Salt Lake City then hopefully catching a ride to T-ride from there.
I know that I’m probably worrying way too much about this. My camp mates (Bless you Bevin!) have already told me they will help fill in my gear gaps, so I really shouldn’t stress about this.
I’ve already started packing some things AND making lists of what’s to come
Hi Jerry!
That’s good to know that others have successfully shipped things to themselves. I will definitely do this and make sure it will be there on the 13th when I arrive. :thumbsup
It’s getting close!!! Can we leave now? :woohoo
Hey Jerry, do you need some help cooking waffles? I’m a good kitchen helper
Valerie, where are you flying in to, and what day? I might have a cooler I can loan you, and some extra chairs too. I also have extra fleece tops I can loan/give to you. You know what the nighttime temps are like. Don’t forget about your ground tarp too, for your tent. I don’t know what day I will get there, but I can always come up during ABGAT week and drop off all my extra gear for Tom or Ron to dole out, since I only live about 90 minutes from Tride. You could always ship your stuff to me and I could take it up to them, and it would be in camp already and you wouldn’t have to get to the PO before they close to retrieve it.
When I get back from the Dead I’ll try to get all my stuff out and see what I have that I won’t need, and I’m sure I can come up with some useful stuff for the flying festivarians out there.
yep, driving up from Denver on Saturday with a cooler full of supplies. Will miss the TP dash, but others will be there to claim a little bit of territory for us. Good luck.
Hi Cindy Lou :wave
You ROCK! That is so sweet!
I am flying in to Montrose on Saturday the 13th. But you totally reminded me that since it’s a Saturday the PO probably closes at noon - my plane doesn’t get into Montrose until 1:00ish, which creates a problem since I wanted to ship my tent, sleeping bag/pad, and other warm bulky stuff. Hmmm… rethinking this. I may take you up on that offer to ship my stuff to you! :flower
I’m with Camp Totally Lit; I’ll ask Bevin if he has some extra room in his van so maybe I can ship a box to him. I will definitely let you know.
I DO know how cold it can get at night. And I’m a cold sleeper! My usual bedding, in order from the bottom, is emergency blanket, wool army blanket, air mattress, wool army blanket, down bag, down comforter. I think I’m going to have to re-configure this arrangement for this year! :lol
I may take you up on that extra cooler too. Thank you sooooo much!
I am gonna use this long weekend as my training weekend. Turn the music up, drink everything from KOTO cups, complete my packing list, get the winter clothes packed, set up the new tent, see what bedding fits in the tent, get dressed inside the sleeping bag, set up some logs / rocks and walk around wearing some glasses with too strong of a prescription, etc.
Right, I’m pretty much doing the same thing here Heaubeau!
preparing pastry whilst standing on a chair for the altitude, bluegrass playing full volume, practicing all my favorite song lyrics from memory, sleeping in my sleeping bag on the floor of my room with my windows open and no heating to see how cold I get, figuring exactly how many heavy sweaters I can fit in a backpack before I’m no longer capable of lifting it off the ground, taking 10 min showers in tepid water with a cold rush at the end, just to get my tolerance levels up… :thumbsup
Now what exactly should I be practicing as a Newbie? the art of escaping festivirgin sacrifice rituals I guess… :lol
Yep on the Beer!
Yep on the 5 min. shower!
No Diva’s allowed in Town Park!
They make you stand out and then the sacrifice is worse!
ANd…don’t Panic…Lots of great folks have you back.
:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup
