I went to the Jeff Austin show a few weeks ago at the Fox, and although this venue is normally great for these shows, I had to leave within 15 minutes after Jeff took the stage. I was absolutely SMOTHERED and had elbows in my face, chest, legs, etc…
After I couldn’t take it anymore, the hubby and I attempted to leave (we were close to the front), and we were slightly injured trying to make it through the crowd. I don’t know if it was the all ages part that caused the obnoxious behavior, but there is no doubt in my mind the Fox was way over capacity. I could barely breathe by the time we got out to the bars.
I am just so SAD to have to miss the show due to the obvious over crowding. Heaven forbid there is ever any kind of incident that would cause panic at this venue at a show so over crowded.
I want to think that maybe I am just getting older and can’t stand the crowds anymore, but I just have too many good memories of the Fox and Jeff to think that is the only reason. I have NEVER seen a venue like that before.
I don’t know if the Fox oversold the show or what, but we wasted a lot of money planning for a good night to just have to squeeze ourselves out and leave without seeing much music. Maybe Yonder/Jeff is just too popular now, and the magic we always experienced at his shows was a fleeting moment in time I was lucky to be a part of.
I don’t want to see Yonder at Red Rocks, the venue is too big! You lose all the magic you get at smaller venues. However if the smaller venues are overselling tickets and squeezing in as many people as possible, it makes it impossible to enjoy even that.
