Other Genres

What other genres and or new artists have you been listening to? When I’m feeling something other than blues I usually go for rock (new or classic). Recently I’ve been getting really into 16 Second Stare, their song Red Carpet Material has become definite favorite of mine. I recently saw this pretty cool interview of them backstage at one of their shows. I’m hoping they tour again soon, check out the interview here:

What do you think?

Bluegrass, Newgrass, Jamgrass, Psychograss.

Do ya need more than that? :lol

Auntie Hope :pickin :green

Hell yes! and throw in some swamp blues with that. spice it up with a little dixieland jazz

Courtney gave me two disks with a mix of all the great music of that region. Had a party here at the house last night and cranked 'em up till rafters shook. We were dancing in the living room - you can not sit still when a New Orleans brass band takes over.

My beloved bluegrass makes me smile. But this stuff brings out my wild side. So good.

now back to nursing my headache…

:wave I love good Rockabilly :medal
THe Ice Man( Albert Collins), now he can smoke :medal

David is sooooooo good and yer right, hard to pigeon hole. Love his style. :flower

Ya’ll might not believe this, but I’m working on a pretty big hip-hop event down here in Albuquerque. Ludacris, Paul Wall, Baby Bash…

Not my cup of tea, exactly, but I’ve had to do some homework. Failed miserably.

My three favorite genre’s are Bluegrass, funk and jam-rock in that order. Following that, blues (and blues-rock) and reggae.

Dude you gotta do what you gotta do !

Anything but Pop music…

Just say NO to rap! :mad

(or should I say cRAP)

Word Tom.

Word em ups.

That’s so hard. I listen to everything but heavy metal and electronic stuff.
Hard core-rap isn’t for me, but there is sometimes rap that I find “ok”. I don’t rush out and buy it.

But if I listed genres outside of what planet bluegrass features: blues, jazz, and classical.
But my iPod is mainly folk & bluegrass & country (if you call Railroad Earth country - what are they?)

I have to say I really do not like pop, however I keep an open mind and try to give a listen now and again.
Hip Hop,Rap, great to workout to… But nope just can’t sit there and really get into it .
Blues, Bluegrass, Jazz, classical…now this is what my dreams are made of :dog
However after 3 days of the Blues(Blues&Brews) I got the blues, overdose. :flower

I have to jump in on this one. It is unfair to categorize and dismiss music by genre. We are well educated and smart group of music lovers. I think we can all agree that there only two types of music.

Good music and bad music.

Rap is the biggest victim of this type of genre bashing. I am not a hip hop fan, but own several hip hop CDs that I love. Real sophisticated stuff. Try Guru’s Jazzamatazz Volume One. Or the first US3 CD. Real musicians and great song styling.

There’s good country and bad country. Johnny Cash or Achy Breaky Heart

Pop music too. Todd Rundgren is considered pop music. As were the Beatles.

Can’t we all just get along… :thumbsup :cheers

I get along with everyone no matter what they listen to. :flower
I just don’t like to listen to cars rolling by my neighborhood rattling my windows.

I bet I know more pop tunes than I realize… :lol That’s what so great about music, it seeps into your subconcious. I want to marinate myself in all kinds of music…music is filling.
All music.

I hear that Tom. All the way up here, I can hear it

Amen Tom …
:cheers

I can’t believe no one mentioned this earlier, Polytechnicajunslamgrass
