Hi folks! We haven’t ever camped onsite and are bringing the popup camper. We currently have it in the camping line, but got number 50 as we didn’t realize so many cars would be lining up before 4 pm on Sunday. I have heard that those with a vehicle pass are filtered out in some way. Will we be moved to a separate line on Thursday? Wondering if we’ll have a decent flat spot for the camper, and if our friends with 6 tents might be able to be close to us.
You will have a decent camping spot. Many of us in line in front of you are wanting the quieter family campground west of the stage. I have shown up Thursday and gotten a pretty good spot.
It might look a bit full at first with the academy people already in there. But there should be plenty of room were you are. We got in Monday around noon and are 62 so it’s just a matter of hooking up with our group. If you don’t have a vehicle pass, like us, you drop off your load of camp gear. Then move your vehicle to one of the parking areas so that opens up a lot more space. Meet your neighbors and have a great festival. From looking at early pictures it looks like the campground should be fine. See some rain is possible this weekend.
Honestly, in my opinion doing this 4 years running, I think driving in a camper/pop-up is much crazier than managing a tent. I bring my camper every year & just stake claim in the first manageable spot. It’s far too crowded to survey the grounds with your trailer to find what suits you. It’s TONS easier with friends and tents. So many people at the front of the line stake out acreage that as long as you go zen & aren’t picky, you’ll get something. And I’ve never been filtered out or brought to the front of the pack with my vehicle pass.
Kitty—What site are you referring to west of the stage that is quieter? We go every other year with our kids and I have been wanting to try onsite but have always thought it would be too noisy at night for the little ones. Thanks!
