So last year was my first Rockygrass and I have a quick question about the land grab in onsite-tent only camping. From my understanding, cars will be lining up in the new PB farm leading up to Thursday. On Thursday cars will be let in to the site in the order their car is parked. Someone mentioned to me that people on foot lineup and as soon as they start letting cars in those people go in and can lay down tarps and stake their spots. Is that correct? I can see why this would be helpful for people who are camping without the need to unload a car but I can’t help but think that people that have been waiting (in some cases since Sunday) in line with their cars would get screwed but this may be an accepted practice. Curious what everyone’s thoughts are? If this is a widely accepted practice I see no reason to put a car in line when I could just walk up put a tarp down and then unload later.
I had that same thought also. Im interested in what folks’ experience is.
It seems to me that they let a number of cars from the line into the ranch before they let any runners loose.
It is after all the the fairest way to do it. :thumbsup
It sounds like if you don’t plan on dropping your car off as soon as parking opens it would behoove you tojust lineup for the walk on line and claim a spot. It almost sounds like people waiting in line are getting the short end of the stick here.
They allow the people waiting in the car line to enter first. There is no pedestrian landrush until that part is done. Besides fair, it’s also a safety issue to have a bunch of people running around for spots while cars are driving around the same small area.
Glad to hear that is the case. I could have sworn I saw people walking up last year while they were still letting people in from the car line.
