Onsite Camping Line

Been to RockyGrass, but this will be our first time camping onsite. I see that you can leave a vehicle in line beginning the Sunday before to save your spot for rolling onto the grounds on Thursday evening. I was just wondering how much of an advantage this provides you for getting a good site. I assume a lot of the good spots will be taken by folks attending the Academy since they get to set up first. We’ve been to Telluride a couple times and know that it is very important to get your site EARLY in Town Park, so we were wondering if the RockyGrass onsite situation is similar. Would you notice much of a difference if you put your vehicle in line on Sunday vs. Monday vs. Tuesday etc.? Thank you! :wave

The bulk of the people that do the line are in large groups and need space, so they have to.
Single camps fill the gaps between the bigger groups. Vehicles/ campers get sorted to the front of the lot right off. You also have to pay to do the line, $10 a day, and you have to be present to get a number to confirm your spot and that you’ve paid. They come out daily to do numbers as cars show up.
So it depends on your situation.

So, I’m a single camper with a vehicle pass w/ my onsite camping pass. Planning on parking my truck and putting a 10’ shelter next to it for me.
Does that mean I don’t have to get in line til Wed or Thurs sometime?
