On-Site Camp Setup

This is our first time, and we are really looking forward to it!

We are camping on-site and do not have a vehicle pass. Will we be able to drive close to drop things off, or do we need to plan to “backpack” in from the parking lot?

Also, will there be much difference in quality of camping spot if we get there in the evening on Thurs around 8 or 9PM versus afternoon? Just trying to fugure out if I really need to try to reschedule some work thursday early evening. Not too picky and figuring chance of shade is low anyway, but have a bigger tent.

ADDED: I assume the alcohol ban is just for the operformance area and not for the on-site camping, correct?

Thanks!
Nathan

Sorry, I just found my answer on the Camping webpage, had been looking at rules and the camping line pages and did not think to look in the obvious place.

“You can temporarily drive in to the campground to unload your gear, then purchase parking (approximately $5 for the entire festival) at Bohn Park”

Also, since parking is only $5, my camping partner can head up in the afternoon and grab our spot if I can not get out of the meeting, and I will just have to head up that night when I get off work. But, would still be interested in any feedback about if that would really make much of a differnce, would be nice not to have to drive 2 cars.

Last year Folks Fest was sold out, just like it is this year. Last year the camping was pretty crowded.

If you have a larger tent and maybe want space for a shade tent, I would say get in line as early as possible Thursday at the vehicle line in Bohn Park.
By 8 or 9 that night, there will probably be only spaces for small tents.

and yes, no alcohol may be brought into the festival grounds, but OK in the on-site camping areas.

Thanks, that is great help! I went ahead and rearranged my work conflict so I can get there earlier.
