I guess I should have looked earlier, as they had posted this a while back. But… I just became aware of this because tickets just went on sale.
NO TENT CAMPING IN BOHN PARK :mad
Amazing as it seems…We don’t all wish to be on site, or at Meadow crammed into each other… We wish to be way back in Bohn where it isn’t “going on” all night long. I know… you have the Riverbend and family spots. Woo hoo!!
I love how it is worded. If you want your vehicle onsite it will be $35 for a vehicle pass. Oh by the way, there’s no tent camping, HUH??? So… you have to sleep in your vehicle? YUP! SWEET!!! SO…Bohn is now $70 bucks to camp in. YUP!! Gotta get you your camping pass and your vehicle pass to camp in. SWEET!!! :mad
WOW! What’s wrong with this picture? I’ll tell you!!! NO TENTS!!
:medal For moving backwards! :medal
I always thought tent camping was the so called “green” way of living. Sustainability my ass!!! Does this bother anyone else? :rolleyes
Hey Powder.
Thanks for the passionate post.
The exclusion of tents from Bohn Park has as much to do with the conditions of the area post-flood as it does anything else. If you were here last year you know that the park is a wreck. It’s unlikely that the walking bridge over the river will even be back before next year’s festival season, just for starters…
Combined with the addition of River Bend for this year, which has greatly reduced the “strain” on Meadow Park, it was a decision that made sense.
I’m sorry that you are displeased with the change, but we do not feel we are “moving backwards.” We feel we are offering you a better camping option than we can currently provide to tent campers in Bohn Park. Meadow Park is now open to single day ticket holders wishing to tent camp just as Bohn Park has been in the past. This decision was based on the quality of camping we wish to provide you. As you mentioned, there will be a section of River Bend designated for “quiet camping” or “family camping” if that’s your main concern.
re: green
Tent camping is a “greener” option than RVs, yes. Much of that determination comes from how an individual uses their RV. A bio-diesel RV coming from Denver, for example, would be much “greener” than a tent camper driving their tent in a big diesel truck to the campground from Kansas.
That said, we are offering more tent camping than ever before and are not planning on offering any more vehicle or RV camping at Bohn than we have in the past.
I hope you find somewhere that suits your needs, and that you find yourself having the best RockyGrass ever in 2015.
:cheers

And that is why he is the D man. Smooth as butter. So kind and makes everyone feel so important.
PBG just rocks :medal :medal
Settle down, dude. Flood recovery takes time. Just take a year off if it’s so bad. More room for me. :thumbsup
Thanks for your explanation Dustin…
OK…OK, Change is hard. Our group has camped at Olsen/Bohn the last ten +years. We have people coming from all over the place. Putting together a camp for the whole group is always an interesting adventure. Usually at least 6 camping tents and an easy -up or 2. (Oh… you’re those guys!!!) Yep that’s us.
Obviously we will deal with it. But… I was really bothered, that our camping routine is now a new venture. We had it honed into a well organized setup. It was always pretty nice to know what you’d be coming into.
Anyways…It turns out our friends in Lyons will graciously allow us to setup on their ample property this year. We just need to provide a porta john, which we will do. Looks like a start of a new era of camping.
Had to vent my frustration though. I wouldn’t have felt right just letting it go!
Sorry Wharf_Rat…Wouldn’t miss a Rocky Grass for anything.
:cheers
I was also less than thrilled by the loss of tent camping at Bohn Park. I liked the distance from the festival site that allowed for a good healthy walk after each nights show. I am not pleased that it will cost my wife and I an additional $70 to camp at the newest campground. Nice at it is,I think that $70 to camp for a weekend is a bit steep. Does that fee include the car pass? Couldn’t quite figure that one out.
I've always looked at RockyGrass like a music festival with a whole lot of campsite picking thrown in. I mean a WHOLE lot of pickin'! No matter what happens, who you set up your campsite next to, or who invites themselves into your area and sets up housekeeping right in your jam area, it's ALWAYS even more fun than the previous year! It doesn't seem to matter where you camp, as when: if it's during RockyGrass you're gonna have a great time! :cheers
My first and 2nd RG’s I was all about that attitude. After that, I appreciated a more quiet camp set near the back of Bohn. After all, there is so much going on, all you gotta do is a little stroll to find some party or music.
Just nice havin that choice.
