Nightgrass Speculation

I know we’ve got a couple months yet before the NG lineup is announced, but I’m bored at work and this place is too quiet.

So what say you? Who do you think will get a NG? Pretty sure we can put our money down for the Yonder CC opener and their Sheridan show, GSBG at the Palm Thursday night, and PB Sunday at the Sheridan. I’m guessing Billy Strings is a realistic guess, and long-shotting Wood Brothers.

Hey! Snap out if and get back to work Skubes! :pirate

If Billy doesn’t get a NG slot you can still count on him to sit in with others. He’s probably the artist i’m most excited to see this year. He’s a flatpicking monster

But I don’t wanna! :bash

Soooo excited to see him in Telluride this year. Place won’t know what hit 'em. :burn

:wave Here is a guess from the flatlands… :cheers

:medal :thumbsup THURSDAY…FRIDAY…SATURDAY…SUNDAY
PALM==>Greensky…Salmon…Dusters…XXX
SOH==>Wood Bros…YMSB…I’m With Her…Punch Bros
OTHER=>Railsplitters…B.Strings…Phoebe Hunt…XXX

Now Hot Sugar can correct me, as usual. :eek :sorry

Tell you one band that might be a lot of fun to see in a small venue, St. Paul & the Broken Bones.

Sugar correct someone? I’ve known him his whole life, and I’ve never heard him correct anyone…

… I can’t believe I got through that with a straight face.

Looks like a good list to me though. Part of me really wants to see Salmon at the Sheridan, but the Palm would be a lot more comfortable (and probably an easier ticket to get). Also, they need to be opposite B.Strings so Billy can come sit in!

My only problem there is that it would be almost impossible to pick which Nightgrass to go to on Thursday. I also feel like both Greensky and The Dusters will be at The Palm.

Just got home from Winter Wondergrass. Holy cow, Billy Strings is insane!!! I sure hope he gets some NG love. Can’t wait to see him at Telluride.

Maybe a Travelling McCoury’s NG? While I’d love to see him at a Night Grass, I’m thinking that Billy doing an Elks Park might be even better! Counting the days!

Oooh, hadn’t considered Traveling McCourys, but that would be awesome. Also would like to see Billy Strings at Elks Park regardless of what happens with a potential NG billing.

In the past has there ever been a nightgrass band that didn’t play the main stage?

The one that I know of is Fruition. I think it was 2016?

Good call on Fruition. It was 2015, they played a nightgrass show at the Elks Lodge and the power kept cutting out right in the middle of songs. They also did a set at Elks Park that year but no main stage.

I feel like there was another one in like 07 or 08 maybe? I don’t even remember who it was though.

Pert Near had a Nightgrass show one year with no mainstage slot.

I believe that we will have another band playing nightgrass this year that isn’t on mainstage. The opening act in the last three shows that I have attended, from Minneapolis, The Last Revel. Maybe opening up for The Stringdusters. Also seeing that the new album by Horseshoes & Hand Grenades The Ode is opening at number three on the Billboard Bluegrass chart. Good seeing local bands doing well. Back to tapping my maple trees.

I’m also wondering if the musical guests for Live From Here will be artists who are on the TBF line-up or might they be additional artists to the line-up. Thus giving opportunity for nightgrass acts that aren’t billed for the main stage by PB. I’m really digging the current project of Danny Barnes and Jeff Sipe!

That was who I was thinking of.
