Nightgrass announcements coming soon???

Just getting anxious here. Ski season is almost over, allergy season is well underway (ah-choo) and wondering how little sleep I’ll get at T-ride season is upon us. Any announcement dates in mind?

-bless you

i check everyday now and i’m feeling like i’m stalking the website…i’ve got ants in my pants
:flower

Completely jonesing over here as well.

I think Dustin and the Planet Bluegrass gang must have a bet to see how many people they can get to ask about Nightgrass before they finally announce it.

“Alright, Wonka - where’s the chocolate?”

“Ease his pain.”

It’s our own version of March Madness. :lol

We’re working on the NG stuff now.

:cheers

As first timers who have heard so many good things, I have definitely become a stalker of this forum in the name of nightgrass!

'Cuse my newbieness, but what is Nightgrass?

Oooooooh Nightgrass!! You’re in for a treat! :thumbsup
Basically, they’re late night shows that happen during TBF in a variety of venues in town. They are scheduled to start after the main stage last set, more or less.
Each night (thursay, friday, sat, sunday), two main venues are booked with two different bands: the Fly Me To The Moon Saloon and the Sheridan Opera House, at a block or so from each other.
A typical nightgrass show is a set by the band, then an extended jam session with many many guests from the TBF lineup. Music goes on till late into the night and the vibe is awesome! :band
Tickets sell pretty fast, especially for the highly sought-after Yonder Mountain String Band at the Sheridan (thursday night I believe). Yonder also kick off the fest with an evening show in Mountain Village on the Wednesday night.
As far as I know these two shows are sold via the lottery system. The others are open sales, but get there early to secure your ticket! THIS is why there’s such a hype about the Nightgrass tickets: you wanna be prepared for the day of the sale, and once they’re out, you gotta grab em fast! :eek :lol :lol
From my experience last year, I attended two Nightgrass shows (Crooked Still and the Punch Brothers on sunday night) and had the most AWESOME time. The intimacy of the venue, the pure energy of the bands, the enormous fun everyone there is having (band + guests + audience) is just incredible. The venues are a refreshing change from the day sets at the fest, and I really felt like I saw some once-in-a-lifetime musical moments, the pressure is off for the bands, they’re really having fun.
Enough, just get yourself a ticket and find out! :cheers

Okay, how much coffee did you drink before posting THAT ONE! :lol

It was perfectly exciting to read! :cheers

am i correct in assuming that when you say “get there early to secure your ticket” that tickets go on sale the day of the event and you must purchase them in advance in person and not via the website?

Wow! So more music which is different from the regular show??!!??? OOooooo! Awesome-

Because we’re bringing a 12- and 14-year old with us, I’m guessing they can’t get into the after hour venues because they are more than likely bars? Is that safe to say?

Who have been some nightgrass performers of the past?

duncmelsmom-sheridan opera house and the confrence center are not bars, and yes the others are. :flower

karate_donkey-tickets will go one sale after they announce the lineup, maybe in a few days, and then the tops shows sell out quick!

I believe your children should be get into some of them with a parent.

The Yonder kick off party on Wednesday is all ages. I’m also pretty sure that there is a stipulation for all the Sheridan shows that allows children to come in with a parent.

Tickets will go on sale a few days after the official announcement on Planet Bluegrass’ WEB SITE. You may need to register for an account on that site, and If I remember correctly, the best idea is to do that in advance of the sale date.

Starting last year (I think it was last year) because of the high demand for all access wrist bands and the two main Nightgrass Venues, a lottery distribution system was implemented, just like Town Park Camping tickets.

For the smaller venues, tickets are sometimes available for days after the on-sale date.

Hope this helped. I’m sure Dustin or Brian will fill in more details as the time grows nearer, or tomorrow, when-ever.

Until then… NIGHT GRRRAAASSSSSS!!!

I remember last year at the Sheridan for the yonder show the fire marshall was not letting people in who had tickets because “planet bluegrass over sold the show”. Wondering if anyone else had troubles with this. I can’t imagine how those people felt I would be devastated. I’m sure the good people at planet bluegrass didn’t intend to over sell just wanted to bring it up so it won’t happen again.

last year the bands playing Nightgrass were: Cornmeal (who weren’t playing at the actual fest), Greensky Bluegrass, Crooked Still, Punch Brothers, Yonder (you can count on them every year pretty much!), Railroad Earth I bellieve, and I’m not sure who else…
There’s no telling who gets to do a Nightgrass show, but you can start guessing… or wishing! :lol

I talked to Mike from Head for the Hills on friday in Madison for a bit, he said that he thougt they might be getting a Offical nigthgrass slot for their band. Said just what they had been hearing but werent’ for sure yet.

Just what he told me, we were camped nextto these guys in Town Park last year.

I’ve heard of two bands that may be doing a nightgrass show together, but not sure if we are supposed to spoil the surprise! It’s one I wont miss for sure, though!

Spoil away! Please??? :cheers :flower :flower

Dont be tha girl…me and BilllyBeru are gonna be dying over here… :rolleyes
