Can anyone tell me what the rules are about going to other camp areas for picking circles after the shows? I am camping in Meadow park but want to join some friends to pick at night in the onsite camping area. Is this possible or is there security to keep people out of the different camp areas?
Also - are there bathrooms and showers in the Meadow Park campground?
It depends on which part of on-site you wish to go to, the part which is “behind the stage” is normally checked, but the part next where you line up to go in isn’t or at least is spotty. I’ve been stopped at both and gotten into both.
Meadow park has a paid to use shower, cheap though (25 or 10 cents or something). They have bathrooms with running water, but the toilets are not much better than a porta john (I can’t recall if they are flush or not).
There is always the river (for bathing, not the other item)
In over a decade of being on-site I’ve only heard of one person being turned away at the gate trying to come on-site to pick, and they just walked down to the next enterance and came in anyway. So long as you have festival bands they don’t care, your welcome to come and go.
I’m not in a band in the festival, but was interested in going to pick with friends who are and will be staying in the onstie area. Thanks for the feedback. I am still looking to swap for onsite camping but looks like I can make it work even if I camp in MP.
You should have no worries about getting on site to do some picking… Also there are showers in the onsite bathrooms that can be accessed after hours from the west side of the building. Sometimes there is a line for them and sometimes there is not… But they are free…
The only “rule” is that you should play all night!
But seriously, there’s great pickin’ going on in Meadow Park and in the on-site campground, and there’s easy access to both sites (a short 5-min walk from one to the other) and plenty of pickin’ circles to join. Just don’t go anywhere without your instrument.
Now that I think about it, that’s good advice all the time :thumbsup
