Is it true?! Oh please, tell me it is!! I am beyond excited! :eek
It was a forgone conclusion. They got their start by winning the TBF contest. If they were planing a reunion tour and album, Telluride was definitely going to be on their list. Ferg also hinted towards it right after last year’s festival.
No way!
Must see them in Boston May 1st…!!!
SO EXCITED
:flower Somthin good is gonna happen. Can ya feel it. I can and it’s makin me smile… Hard to get excited at my age however Ive got some goosebumps comin on. Hummmm :medal
Would love to hear em in Tride again! Over the Moon. Love that song and the Harmonies are really nice.
They went down hill at the end. Will this Nickel Creek be the one of the first album or the Thile infused oddities to break up nice melodies ang songs?
I’d much rather see the Watkins without Thile myself, but hopefully Chris won’t force this version of Nickel Creek to go down roads of harsh chords and ugly lyrics.
There are 1,000 artist I’d rather see at TBF. But we all need to take a shower at some point.
:sunshine
Well, since the news from the band made it out before I could get here to announce, I’ll just pop in here to confirm that they are playing the 41st annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival! :hop
Personally, I’m very excited about this set. Nickel Creek is one of my favorites, and I’m thrilled that they are making music again!
:cheers
D.
Yes! This news and SCI playing fall shows made my day! Best news possible, I hope a nightgrass show will come out of this also, going to be amazing!
Kinda figured this would work out, and it’s the news I really wanted to hear. So thank you.
Apollo, if I ever admitted whose set I chose to miss nearly EVERY year for my shower, my bluegrass friends would shower me with insults. But it only goes to prove that there would never be a festival that only booked artists that you really love, unless you somehow got to be as rich as the founder of Hardly Strictly and booked it yourself.
And who knows? Maybe if you give NC a try that you might be surprised how much you enjoy them. Certainly they’ll be playing some of the songs you liked from their early albums (before they went so “downhill”), and the new stuff could be right up your alley.
Hey, even if you don’t like 'em, ya gotta shower SOMETIME!
Chris Thile, while one of the most technically skilled mandolin players on the planet, usually leaves me feeling empty. But I never got the chance to see him with Nickel Creek. What I know of their music, I have enjoyed. I look forward to seeing this set and seeing why they’re one of the most popular bluegrass inspired acts of the past 20 years.
Ewww Hot Sugar you are in for a treat!
Maybe NC will break out their cover of “Toxic” by Brittney Spears. I haven’t seen them since 2006 and for some reason that
choice of cover still amuses me.

Yahoo!!!
:thumbsup
The rest of the tour starts in April with two nights at the Ryman, Beacon Theater NY, Boston, DC, Chicago and Oakland on 5/19.
We were there for the band contest when they won it and really enjoyed them. Can’t say I have been a fan of CT since then though. As others have posted… amazing player that does not move me.
Not sure why everyone doesn’t feel the way I do about Chris Thile, he definetly moves me! I think he rocks! But then again that’s why we all can have our own opinions. Stoked to see Nickle Creek at Telluride, and 930 Club in DC!
