Fulfilling lifelong dream of coming cross country from NC to Telluride this summer! I’ve been to Merlefest about 20 times but always wanted to come to your festival. I have tickets @ the High School campground because I’m also coming with my daughter, sister, and 2-1/2 year old. Can someone share info about food at the festival, what the campsites are like (trees or field, etc), and campfires at the campground? There will be more questions, I’m sure. Thanks.
No campfires allowed… Food at festival is wonderful… Try the killer flank steak…Most meals about 7-10… You can pick from things like Stir fry and dumplings,Greek meals, Indian lentils and curries, tacos, hamburgers and hotdogs, ribs and cornbread, fish tacos, good coffee , roasted corn and Killer flank steaks! You can bring anything in with you that you would like as well except for glass and alcohol… There is a nice little grocery in town that you can get sandwich making, snacks, sodas/juices veggies/fruits what ever you want for the kids… Also, there is a slightly larger grocery just across from the high school… Both very easy walking distance…
I don’t know how the campsites are at the high school
Thank you. Very helpful.
Sports Field at the High School, just like Warner Field is a baseball diamond. No booze or smoking at the High School (campground), just like home. :thumbsup

Hope you don’t mind me jumping in with more questions about HS camping
How far is it to the festival from HS camping?
We hope to do a combo of walking and biking, and strollering
According to the Googles it’s a .8 mile walk, but it’s a nice walk…I heart maps btw. In Festival terms, that’s a “one sippy cup” walk" :cheers
Joe is right. The entire town of Telluride is only 8/10’s of one mile long. however, this is at 8,750 ft. above sea level. Pace your self! :thumbsup

You can take the free shuttle, the Galloping Goose, to the festival from the high school also, or there are school buses used as shuttles that will drop you off at night also. Very useful with tired kids! :thumbsup
Pro-tip: try to find a spot that is not a) next to the road, or b) too close to the latrines.
