Hey guys! I have tickets for Warner Field and as a first-timer I am confused. It says that check-in time (which I understand is a lottery system) starts at 9 a.m.). I will be coming from Denver, so should I get a room the night before somewhere closer in order to be able to be there that early? And if so, what town would be ideal? Obviously I don’t want to pay Telluride prices. And any othe tips and tricks for a newbie would be much appreciated. And as a solo festivarian, is it pretty easy to make friends for the weekend? Thanks!
Hi HappyGal!
You’re going to have a blast and will have 0 problems making friends for the weekend, and I would venture to say life long friends (we surely have.) Sadly we’ll be skipping this year, but in years past when camping in Warner we have stayed in town (scored a random affodable place) but also stayed in Montrose in an airbnb with a group. (Just a thought, you could look into the accomidaton board if other festivarians would be willing to let you crash at their spot for the night to share cost)
We had about 12 folks in our group so it was important for us to get there when WF opened up. If it was me as a solo camper (or even 2-3 people) id say if you got to town by 12pm you’d be fine to get a spot, assuming you wouldnt have a ton of gear (and reasonable size tents). There will be large groups setting up their stuff, but you’ll get a spot. Though, WF land rush is fun so if you can make it for that, I’d say it would be worth experiencing. Happy to chat in the message function if you like! FESSTAVAAAALLLL!!
Thank you for all the info!
