Newbie needs advice on Sunday arrival

Hi,

I am going to TBF for the first time and can only make it for Sunday. I have to work thur, fri and saturday night, but planning on heading up early Sunday (takes 7 hours). I have read a lot on the week-long camping but not too sure what to expect for Sunday. My friend and I do not have any camping or vehicle passes. I know many people probably leave after Sunday’s music, and wasn’t sure what the situation is…can i snag someones old camping pass…or spot…or find my friends and camp with them even if i do not have a pass. How strict are the rules on the last night? Should I scramble to find some camping passes for the one night we are up there? Any advice would help…can’t wait to see Telluride for my first time and get my two step on

Depending on the time you arrive, and how you plan your time, you may have to find a place to camp near shuttle buses. If you drive into town, there will be someone that will talk to you at the edge of town to tell you your options. You know when the music starts by looking on the lineup page, and I suppose you will proceed from there. the festival is on the upper end of town, and you drive in from the lower end of town. I don’t think they will let you park in town, and you may have to decide whether you want to set up a camp, drive to the gondola at mountain village and remember how you went from your car to the festival, so you can return in the dark to your car and drive back to your camp, or leave your camping gear in the car all day and look for a camp in the dark, off the road and out of the way, which is not easy if you do not know the territory. I don’t think any camping passes are transferable, but you can ask when you get to town. Are you driving all night? i don’t know if this is any help, but enjoy your journey.

Camping passes for sure are not transferable. Most people DO NOT travel at night either. It isn’t too safe in these neck of the woods. There are some people that have to leave earlier on Sunday so you may get lucky in that regard…good luck.
