Newbie here, questions about parking and taking the gondola with supplies

Hi! My husband and I are first-timers this year and super excited!! We are from CO, but haven’t been to this area of the mountains before. We’re staying in Ouray and will be driving in each day for the festival. I’m aware per the website, that the streets of Telluride will be closed for the festival, and so we have to park in Mountain Village and take the gondola into town.

We are wanting to bring some low back chairs, blankets, extra clothing layers, cooler with snacks and drinks, etc. This seems like a lot of items to try to pack into the gondola, and not sure if that would even be allowed? Are we able to drive close to town and drop off supplies and then drive back to Mountain Village for actual parking or how does that work? Any insight is appreciated!

The gondolas hold about 8 people. Should be room for all that. Not sure how close to the Gondola you’ll be parking, and then it’s about3/4 of a mile walk from gondola to festival area. If you want to be in the festival grounds by start of each day you’ll want to give yourself at least 2 hours from leaving Ouray parking probably a line for the gondola, and the walk to Town Park.

Great, thanks for the info! I didn’t realize the gondola was that roomy. We do plan to leave pretty early every day, I saw it was about an hour drive, plus like you said, parking, lines etc. all factor in. Thanks again!
