Need a fishing report!

For several years I packed up my fly fishing gear for the fest, only to be disappointed. Late snows made the streams basically unfishable. Even the fly stores downtown were telling me that I would have to drive to at least an hour to find fishable streams.

Last year was different, as the snowpack was down. I was able to catch a lot of fish right at Town Park (at least until the kids and dogs started playing in the afternoons!). And just out of town the Dolores was also nice (didn’t catch anything but I was there at the wrong time of day).

So what’s it looking like for 2014? I know the Telluride snowpack was down this year (sad for skiers AND for what might be left of Trout Lake), but that there were some major snow storms late in the spring. Any fisher-people been out on the streams? Can you tell me if this is gonna be one of those years that I leave the gear at home?

Always bring your gear…the streams are wide and easy to cast if they are to fast to fish you can work on your cast.

I never have time to fish while I’m there. (:argh)

…but I can tell you that the San Miguel/ Dolores range is currently at 54% so I would expect low flows and fish-able rivers by the time you get there.

:fish

I’m willing to look around with you. I will be arriving and staying in town park on the 14th. Not sure where in town park my tent will land but my fly rod and guitar will be close at hand with all the time in the world to enjoy both. If you want a fishing buddy let me know.
