First timer here, coming with my husband and 4 children to first festival ever.
For Meadow Park, if we want a shaded site, when do we need to arrive? We don’t need to the the Thursday lineup people talk about – that’s for on-site camping, right? Will we be okay showing up Friday morning?
Will I feel comfortable leaving my musical instruments at Meadow Park while my whole family is at the concert site? I guess as much as leaving behind our camping gear, food and any personal items, right?
My kids are included in both my festival pass and my camping pass, right? I just bought two of each.
You will be fine leaving your instruments in the tent while at the festival. Usually you will make friends all around your campsite and a lot of the time someone is always around to keep an eye out. Things can happen though, thats why we have insurance.
Don’t know about Folks Fest, but for I just went up for RockyGrass and I set up my tent Monday after work (6ish). By then, all the spots along the creek (where most of the shade is) were taken. I ended up on the grass on the ballfield which wasn’t that bad – it was easier to put in stakes and the ground was softer and more level.
At night, everything cooled down pretty well, and there’s always the creek nearby to cool off in. Since we spent most of our time on the beach at the fest, shade wasn’t really too much of an issue.
This will be the fourth time we’ve stayed at the Meadow Park Campground for the festival. We’ve stayed on the field, either under a tree or next to the fence. We bring our own portable gazebo for shade. It’s a great campground.
I’m not sure if you can find a place near the river, where most of the trees are, if you arrive on Friday morning. I expect that there will be a larger turnout of people to the festival–and to the campground–this year.
