We are new to the festival and needed some information…please. We are camping at mary e and I wanted to ask about the water and toilet situation. I am expecting none and preparing for that. Can anyone give me the 411 on how it goes up there. I have lived in CO and spent much time in the mountains, just nor sure if there is a close, drinkable spring or composting toilets by chance?
Also needed the 411 on travel trailer camping opposed to tent camping. We have a vehicle pass for or 19 ft bumper pull, but are considering the tent instead to give the kids the full effect. Do they separate RVs and tent camping and is there restrictions related to either?

Hey, Mary E is awesome. The toilet scene is the all too common port-o-let. They are pretty good about cleaning them everyday from about Wed. Til load out. ( I’d bring a couple TP rolls). A water tank is set up also. It’s good water and they replenish as needed as well as ice everyday. I’d make sure to bring drinking water for your family just to be safe. Camper is a good idea cuz it gets pretty damn cold. You’ll have to park your pull vehicle up on the rd. Unless you have 2 vehicle passes. Not a big deal. The kids… Depending on age, are in for a great adventure. Theres a river ( swift moving) and hiking / exploring right at the campground. The bus ride to town is about 45min. but goes quick.sometimes waiting for the next bus makes it longer. Pack for a full day when you head for the music so you have everything you need. See ya there
It’s a good idea to get the kids their own back packs and let them know, starting now, that you will not be going back to the campsite until it’s time to leave the fest for the day. If you’re like me, (when my kids were shorter) they’ll be packing in their own warm gear, rain gear, extra socks, hat & gloves for after dark. (Your stuff, you carry it. :thumbsup )
If they know in advance, they know to pack that “special thing they can’t live without” for the day, and if they forget the first day, I promise you they will not forget it the second day. Our kids always packed one “community item” also. They feel trusted when helping out. It’s pretty cool to watch them gain that power within the group!
Make sure the kids each get their own re-usable water bottle for FESTIVVVAAALLL!!! too! With a carabiner they can hook it right to their backpacks, and that makes them really cool. Some afternoons it’s fun to just sit and watch as the kids come in groups for the FREE water refills on the festi-field. The buddy system with all their new festi-buddies is a very good thing, (of course with a parent following a short distance behind).
