Lodging and Parking

Hi all! Excited to come the area. We were unable to find lodging in Telluride for the 3 nights (19,20,21) so we booked in Ouray. I’m now realizing it’s quite a drive to go back and forth. Any suggestions? We can still cancel Ouray, but our budget is around 1k for the 3 nights so I don’t think we can afford anything in Telluride! Where should we park? When are the best times to do that drive both ways? Thanks!

Yeah, Ouray is a bit of a haul, though there are people who do it every year. There is a dirt road that cuts through called Last Dollar Divide, probably requires ground clearance but not 4x4, I haven’t been down since 80’s so not sure. There’s a few small towns a bit closer but, you’re probably looking at more expensive houses not hotels.
Other option would be picking up some Lawson Camping passes and camp. It’d be way cheaper and you could spend the money you save eating nice meals in town! It’s not completely roughing it, there’s bathrooms and water, and paid showers.

I just got lodging this week on a cancellation last minute booking, but Im staying a few days after, can’t hurt to reach out to Alpine.

Usually camp at WF. so to my WF peeps, I’ll be there at TBF !! ( just in a king bed zzzzzz)
