Hi, this is our first Telluride festival (so excited) & I guess we’ve had some beginners luck in scoring a vehicle pass for our 22’ van camper. We’re arriving Sunday morning and would appreciate any guidance on what to expect at the entry. What is the check in process? Are there designated spots for camping in vehicles in TP? We are on the older side
and would appreciate any suggestions of where to set up. Thank you in advance and safe travels to all !
Howdy and welcome! Check out this load in policy and let us know if you have any follow up questions!
This is a regular campground outside of festival so there are numbered sites which, during non fest times, accommodate 2 vehicles each. Once Planet Bluegrass takes over on Saturday, Camp Hosts will have identified various areas where vehicles can be placed. If you can, I’d recommend getting there Sat for the “land rush” to pick a spot as outlined in the above link. However if you can’t, whenever you roll in, the camp hosts will help you find a place to park. If you have a VP and your vehicle is within the max length paramaters, you WILL have a place to stay, just some areas are better than others (by the river/by bathrooms/snuggled up to someone else). Don’t worry, it’ll work out, I promise!!
Wiz, thank you very much for your reply. Based on your feedback, we are looking to see if we can pull in our arrival date to Sat. And after reviewing the Sat load-in policy, our question is … do we claim a “vehicle pass” space for our campervan with a tarp? Or once we have a lottery ticket, can go and get our campervan and claim our space with our vehicle?
Thanks for your help !
Happy to help and I’m glad you’re coming in Sat, you won’t regret it!
Honestly I wasn’t there during Saturday last year (flew back to Denver for a wedding Friday and flew back to Montrose Saturday, it was weird) and I know it’s been slightly different a few of the years but yes I believe the Camp Hosts mark/identify potential vehicle spots which you are encouraged to walk around and scope out before land rush. From there basically you line up, get your #, then once the land rush starts they’ll let #1 run in with their tarp (or maybe they pin the number to a pole, I don’t recall) to secure a spot. It is a little stressful for sure but it seems like a fair way to do it. Whichever spot you end up getting, you’ll have a great time.
Maybe @dezreen (Camping Supervisor) can pop in and make sure my answers are correct? Edit: I spoke with her and she said this is pretty much accurate.
Many thanks ! Much appreciated ![]()
