Lineup additions ETA?

Wow now there’s a great thought! :medal So many good tunes came from The Eagles. Timeless and holly crap Batman Jackson never comes up for air. Killer set he did indeed! :medal :medal :medal
Now ya got me all excited and thinking, could that happen??? :rolleyes

Sorry, but I’m with The Dude on this one. :hooch

:huh not sure I know what you mean. You don’t like the Eagles Doc? Welp good thing we all dance to a different drummer :flower life is a tapestry of talent.

Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski has a strong distaste for The Eagles, as evidenced in The Big Lebowski.

Saw Joe Walsh & Glenn Frey play in Snowmass in summer of 2011 … VERY cool show!!!

… but take the needle out of your arms, JB will have his own band and M&S will be one of the unannounced “headliners”

Joe Walsh is a different story! :pickin

JW would be my favorite Eagle for sure, but was actually very impressed by Glenn Frey as well (was actually 2010).

On the other hand, my cousin once worked room service at a nice hotel in AZ and brought a hamburger up to Don Henley … who he described as being EXTREMELY “difficult” (to put it nicely).

Looks like Jackson Browne is also headlining Jazz Aspen/Snowmass on June 21 (with special guest Sara Watkins) … so he’ll be warmed up at altitude for TBF.

I have heard deva stories and yeh some folk need to not take themselves so seriously…

however thats when the power of Tride and it’s people kick in with most. :medal

They need us :lol :medal :lol :medal :lovedr

I hate to be a Debbie downer but yeppppppppppp i like the Eagles :lol All of em!
It would be killer crazy good!

White people rejoicing everywhere.

Not allowed hua :lol Good Music comes in all colors :flower :lol
Now take off your shirt and wave your arms in the air wave them high in the air like you just don’t care. No preconcieved ajenda, hang lose and bend like a willow …hang ten

That it does  But judging by the Eagles, the fans don’t. Let’s just say an Eagles crowd can’t be compared to a skittles commercial. I used to love the Eagles, then I turned 14.

Not an Eagles fan either but… to each their own. By the way hua, of the times i’ve seen Billy Nershi (your photo buddy) in multiple formats, none have been a study in diversity. Just sayin’, it is what it is.

Okay… I just saw this on a comment someone made on an Alabama Shakes thread…
I’m just dreaming but hey would be fun…
Saw you guys in Colorado last year when you opened for Neil Young at Red Rocks and am looking forward to seeing more of you in the years to come absolutely amazing

In fact the TBF is not a great study in diversity either. I enjoy it when people on this board talk about the bands they like. I usually learn from it. What I don’t like is when for no reason someone comes on and bashes a band, and the people who enjoy that band. The Eagles don’t choose their fans, the fans choose the band. Just like SCI can’t choose the people that follow them around. Just don’t think this board is a place to spew negative vibes about who likes what band. I think YOU, and YOU know who YOU are. Should just be quiet and let people share the music they love, and keep the Negative to yourself. It’s what makes this board such a nice place to be. So bring on the Eagles, SCI, and anybody else PB wants to put on the stage :cheers

agreed, pirate!

On 2nd thought, for what he probably had to pay for a burger at the Four Seasons he should be picky! :lol

I agree re: power of telluride

Howdy

Well, I just got booted off before posting a quite lengthy, verbose and all together well written piece of analysis so I will now paraphrase and streamline it…

Two ‘big’ acts left… Three qualifying requirements as I see it. 1) Open dates that weekend (duh). 2) per PB, the performer would easily sell out red rocks 3) they would presumably fall within TBF’s admittedly quite wide range of artists. And I might add that they would be ‘worthy’ of the hype of the announcement either based solely on their status or history with the festival or current popularity etc.

IMHO some of the acts mentioned as possibilities don’t fit all of these so here’s some of my thoughts…

SCI - looking like fairly decent odds on this one like it or not.
Mumford - I would have thought this was the leader in the clubhouse but I’m less convinced now.
Paul Simon- keeping this under wraps would be a huge coup. I don’t see it but WOW
Tedeschi Trucks Band - maybe some personal bias but they are HOT
Allmans - whishful thinking for my all time favorites
Neil Young - he’s been mentioned here quite a bit, I’ll leave it at that
Nickel Creek - more and more intrigued by this. A reunion would be a big deal to a lot of folks, two are already there and all three shared a late night Sheridan stage a few years ago.
The Lumineers - Colorado band does good. Extra Grammy exposure

Plenty of bands I’d love to see but don’t realistically meet the ‘requirements’.

Two extra thoughts if you’ll indulge me… As someone else already stated, are we supposed to believe that Bela will be at the 40th without a slot besides the house band? Maybe as some sort of artist in residence, sitting in all over the place.
How’s about The Word tearing through some gospel and sacred steel on Sunday morning. Those sets have been some of the most memorable for me. Beautiful and bitter sweet.

They’ve just posted the line-up for Bonnaroo, and Paul McCartney is headlining. How cool would a TBF Paul McCartney set be???

How about tellin us already? This is gettin old…

Sir Paul McCartney would be good. But the Rolling Stones doing an acoustic set would be better. And Telluride Tom still thinks they have the Hell’s Angles for security, so that possible threat should free up some tickets. It might take up all of the Planet Bluegrass budget for the next ten years as well.
All of the bands who will be playing at TBF 40 will be good! Too bad you can’t see them all.
