Lineup additions ETA?

fwiw, the LOS tourdates page now has all 4 days of TBF listed: http://leftoversalmon.com/site/tour/

Is it typical for a single band to play all 4 days? (In this case I’m glad!)

Anyone who is too disappointed in the line-up, let me know . I can find good homes for your tickets… :wave

I imagine they’ve listed all four days because they’re going to be at the festival all four days. Vince, Drew, Andy, Greg and Jose like to festivate as much as the fest of us. They’ll probably do a nightgrass show and I’m sure that you’ll see members of Salmon guesting almost every day.

Whether intentional or accidental, “the fest of us”- YEAH BABY! I may have to adjust my avatar…

my bet: Rhonda Vincent

bluegrass 2013 artist of the year. plays in Utah on 6/15. Goes back east on 6/23. Her 6/21 is listed as ‘tentative’ at her website but no details. What a stage for her pipes. playin a lil with Sam on the 40th anniversary. it would be good!

:cheers :thumbsup

so in the interest of fairness we listened to some mumford last night. while i would not be disappointed if they were indeed a headliner, i still believe there are much better artist that pb could get for the 40th anniversary.
they really do sound like a top 40 pop band, with a banjo player of course.

I spoke with Chris Thile when the Punch Brothers played in Oxford (UK) and he mentioned that he was doing a solo set and intimated that he was opening up the festival.

Not sure why the Mumfords are causing such a reaction. They’re a great band live and are just one of many that are potentially playing over the 4 days. No festival is ever going to please everyone with every single act but the that is one of the reasons why Telluride is such a pleasure to attend, nobody gives the artists a hard time when they are up they’re playing and having as much of a good time as the crowd. Oh that and the crowd are always good and the food and the beer and the mountains…etc etc, certainly worth flying in from the UK for it (again).

I agree, Oxford_Al - they’re a good live band, a new part of the Festivarian family from when they were a band none of us had ever heard of, and a band that garnered a lot of positivity at that first festival they played (but which has turned downhill since they became so popular).

I think the chagrin about them being one of the “unannounced bands who could sell our Red Rocks” is the tone with which the Planet is hinting at who the remaining bands are – I think there’s some worry that PB is hinting at something extraordinary for the fest, while Mumford wouldn’t be all that surprising to most of us.

This is getting strong reactions both from people who like them but feel their announcement wouldn’t be worth the “hype” so far, and from people who flat out would rather they not be at the fest at all.

I will wait, I will wait for you! :medal They are infectious, better live and do deliver the goods to this lil girl! They can rock my house any day. Lets see where is the lawn chair. Lets get this party started. How bout some tasty licks today? A teaser for the the ears…or a hint , just a small clue :lol

The very best thing about the TBF is that the listeners are very receptive and open minded. That is the spirit! :cheers :medal

Dream come true for me if that is to be. She sends chills up my spine. Love her voice! :medal I hope that tid bit is fer real :flower

Agreed. I think there’s several factors in play:

Because of their popularity, some people are concerned about the attention they bring to the festival and how that may impact (and may have already impacted) ticket availability.

Some genuinely either don’t care for them or think “meh” and don’t see what all the fuss is about. I also believe some others let M&S’s popularity effect their opinion- in some circles, it’s hip to be anti-hipster.

I, for one, welcome our conquering overlords…(sorry, Simpsons reference) and choose not to worry about future consequences. But then again, I don’t think it’s realistic to expect the festival’s popularity to keep to Goldilocks levels- aka, just right.

I’ve accepted it and am over it (as M&S being a likely headliner) … I’m sure some will think of SCI in a similar light (for other reasons) even though I’m way more into them as a headliner.

However, the big difference is that M&S would be here three out of the past four years and they’re mostly an arrangement based band - you pretty much get the same happy meal every trip to the golden arches. Perhaps they’ll shuffle the deck a bit more and take some chances on improv, but not holding my breath.

Sometimes it is all good… :medal

Rain, Snow, even a Banjo :lol Optamistic, eye opening :eek
music in any form is not just for your entertainment. It is a journey, an expression and can be so altering it leads many to bounce and move all at the same time, in time. ITS SOOOOOO PRIMAL! :horsey :dancing :clap

ITSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL GOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD :medal

this attitude is called Festitude :festivarian :ball :kiss :vibes :sunshine

No M&S please. Thanks Ferg!

Sanford and Son> Mumford and Sons

As a headliner I’d rather see them get booked every four to five years.
Not that I’m totally against them, but too much too often makes it stale. :flower

Steep Canyon Rangers just flat out knock my socks off. No Body Knows You is an excellent CD the entire CD is top notch. I would love to see them over and over again. :medal

I spoke with Chris Thile when the Punch Brothers played in Oxford (UK) and he mentioned that he was doing a solo set and intimated that he was opening up the festival.

Wow, that’s a great piece of intel. :flower We’ll be very happy if this comes true.

After watching part1 of the special on Showtime last night, I think it would be fun to have the Eagles at TBF. Somebody tell Jackson Browne to call his old buddies. It’ll never happen of course, but it would be SO cool…
