ok, this may seem like a dumb question but is all the cooking worth it? what kinds of things do you vets recommend? I like to cook out but I don’t want to spend too much time doing and miss the show. :huhCan you hear the music from TP? Also if we do get real ambitious and cook…how do you wash dishes? What do you do with the gray water. I don’t think fellow festivarians would look to kindly on nasty water thrown near their camp! :mad So I am taking suggestions.
Here’s my suggestion Scouter. Cook before the festival. Once the music starts, eat Sisters Dumplings, Killer Flanks, Curry, BIT goodies, Cliff bars, protein shakes…
In other words… eat anything that you don’t have to “cook” and get thee hence into the music!
This whole thing is about enjoying the finer things in life. Fine food, homebrew, and etc are what this is all about. Yes - once the music starts our kitchen scene changes. You will find ,Scouter, that your camp mates are all very seasoned campers. Little things like compost, gray water, and recycling are pretty simple to deal with.
Once again , I say, it’s all about livin large
Come with an open mind and we’ll fill up your stomach and brain with good food.
I go for two weeks, so I do cook a lot. I love cooking outdoors. It’s different for folks coming in just for the festival. I am looking forward to brining picnic contributions to my delightful man friend’s shade canopy. I’m so thirsty for some homebrew right now. Since I camp near the real restrooms there is an outside sink there for dishes that compliments my camp set up quite nicely.
Hi Scooter! If you love to cook, by all means bring the gear and cook! If the thought of missing music in order to cook is frightful then purchase vendor food (the vendor food is excellent but not as good as Camp Run-A-Muck’s). I find that there are sets where I can leave the tarp and go cook a snack or a meal at camp in Town Park. The unique thing about where the Run-A-Muck Kitchen is set-up is that you can see and hear the festival while doing the cooking. For the Hippie and I, this is heaven on Earth! Plus there’s homebrew on tap! So, we spend a fair amount of time hanging-out in camp. If you’re wondering around in Town Park hungry or thursty, swing by Run-A-Muck… we’ll quench that thirst and fill yer belly.
Maybe camp philosopher needs to be added to the God of the oyster aphrodisiac, (how the heck do you spell that?). Let’s just say any misspellings are type-os.
you are right I should enjoy every aspect and that includes the cooking al fresco! I am coming up monday so I can hang out with all of you and fire up the ol’ coleman without missing :quote the show :quote. Not to say you all don’t put on your own show. :rock
