It's time again for your music suggestions...

I said it once before, but I’ll say it again (since a local band was mentioned)…

~ Headline Bluegrass Band (from Az)

These boys are on fire!!!
~ Their banjo player, Tyler Walls is the banjo king! Just this past weekend, he won the 2008 Wickenburg Bluegrass Festival Banjo Contest… AND back in July, he also took first place in the 2008 Rockygrass Banjo Contest!!!
~ The band as a whole won first place in both Pickin in the Pines AND the Tucson Bluegrass Festival Band Contests!!!

Not to mention, Nate (aka Cletus) plays a pretty mean upright bass…

PBG, please snatch these guys up before they hit the big time!!

I’ll give a second to:

RRE
Marshall/Anger
Donna & The Buffalo w/ Bela Fleck of course!

You folks have some awesome suggestions for music in 2009!

Auntie Hope :pickin :green

April, if I am ever in a band I PRAY that you are on our side. :flower

I’d add Cornmeal to the fray too.

Awww Peej… You should know by now that I’m ALWAYS on your side, band or not!!

~ And I already suggested Cornmeal several pages back!

 :bubbles

Can Ricky Skaggs be permanent fixture at Telluride? His 2008 was amazing!! Little Maggie…are you kidding me?

The Avett Brothers
Railroad Earth
Great American Taxi
Leftover Salmon
The Felice Brothers
Ryan Adams
Old Crow Medicine Show
Green Sky Bluegrass

i would like to see old crow medicine show zappa does zappa moon alice and great american taxi

how could i forget gillian welch

Hayes Carll, his new album is alt. country at its best.
I saw Leo Kottke and Loudon Wainwright in Indy and they played an amazing show, both of them would be a good addition.
and of course old crowe medicine show would be great

Carolina Chocolate Drops - I can’t believe no else has suggested them yet! They rocked our world at Pickin’ in the Pines this year in Flagstaff.

Trio - Emmylou Harris, Linda Rostadt & Dolly Parton - How fun would that be!

I love all the suggestions for Jake Shimabukuro. It was great seeing him with the Flecktones a few years ago, and especially the workshop he and Bela did.

There are some other great Hawaiian bands - Hapa, the Brothers Cazimero, and the Makaha Sons come to mind.

Yes indeedy to Boulder Acoustic Society. Can’t get enough of those boys.

Flagstaff’s own Gravy! You’ve heard them at the Tiki Bar - let’s get them on the main stage!

Some other favorites - Eddi Reader (remember Fairground Attraction?), Shelby Lynne, Maria McKee, Over the Rhine, Natalie Merchant, Beth Orton, Lori Carson, Sam Phillips, Amy Winehouse, Hem (a great Sunday morning choice!), Katell Keineg, Joni Mitchell, Madeleine Peyroux, Syd Straw, Innocence Mission, Jolie Holland, Norah Jones, Sinead O’Connor, Bebel Gilberto.

I liked the suggestions of Iron & Wine and Fleet Foxes. How about Beirut? Or Andrew Bird? Or Seth Lakeman? Or Blue Turtle Seduction? Or M. Ward? Or Sufjan Stevens?

Obviously I can go on and on…
:lol :lol :lol

cheers!
dwayne

I second… third… or whatever Hippie’s list… especially like to see

Donna the Buffalo
Cornmeal
Railroad Earth
NGR reunion
Poor Man’ Whiskey

:evil A Poor Man’s Whiskey - Dark Side of the Moonshine show would be killer. Or just a normal show (if that is possible) I’ve been seeing these guys for a few years now and they are really getting good.

 I was at the first Railroad Earth Telluride… even though it was like their ninth show playing together, it was a huge highlight of the fest that year. Love to see them back.

:cheers Just caught my first Cornmeal show the other day (Los Tortugas festival outside Yosemite) and it brought back memories of that first RRE show. They were definitely a highlight.

Hey… but what about YMSB… and Leftover Salmon. We gotta keep the Colorado boys in the mix. And another Hot Rize/Red Knuckles would be awesome.

Love the PMW vids Banjomatic… I was at that show and it was fun to see it again. Here’s some more of the show… BRING ON THE MOONSHINE!

Ozomatli on Sat. night anyone?
Also it would be great to see Head for the Hills… Thursday afternoon to get things revved up

bring The Bad Livers to the aught 9 lineup!!!

and Greensky Bluegrass :thumbsup

I’d love to see Trampled by Turtles make an appearance. Or The Bridge (they have a Electric Mando, it counts, right?). They would make an awesome Saturday night dance party. I can just see Sam Bush or Drew Emmitt sitting in with these guys on an awesome version of “Sailin Shoes.”

Here are some samples of The Bridge btw, in case anyone hasn’t heard of them.

ok, this may be an odd mix, but, here goes…

MUDCRUTCH
SHANNON MC NALLY
ALLISON KRAUSS AND ROBERT PLANT
JOHN PRINE
BONNIE RAITT

I only found out about them about six months ago or so. They are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. They have a LOT of shows on archive.org if you want to get more into them. You can basically search “The Bridge” and almost any song you can think of, I’d be willing to bet that they have covered it at one point or another.
