We were watching the Colbert Report the other night and do you all know that Wilco is touring right now with Neil Young?
That’d be sweet.
Son Volt would be incredible to see there! :thumbsup
A couple of years ago, I truly enjoyed the acoustic set that Counting Crows did. while I’ve seen them on several occasions, I would love to see them in the Telluride setting again.
Maybe have Son Volt play just before Counting Crows ends the day!
Paper Bird from denver
Turns out both the Mammals and Uncle Earl won’t be touring in 2009, but Sometimes Why will be. Sometimes Why is: Aoife O’Donovan (Crooked Still), Ruth Ungar Merenda (The Mammals), Kristin Andreassen (Uncler Earl)
I’d love to see them up on stage at Telluride.
Wow! I just caught Carolyn Wonderland on Austin City Limits! I know it aint bluegrass, but holy crap! this girl could close a show. I’m sure she’s heard it before, but theres a whole lotta what Janis had that she has too! { picturing the exhausted crowd leaving for the night saying, " why haven’t I heard of her before?"}
P.S. 2 votes for Old Crow! :thumbsup :thumbsup

AGREED!!!
its been too long since the last time butter has been in telluride. their 2005 showing was top notch, which a huge mainstage performance with special guest peter rowan, to their workshop jams with the wilders and latenight throwdown with split lip rayfield.
BRING BACK BUTTER IN 09!!! :hop
We can’t wait!!!
How about…
-Old Crow Medicine Show
-Railroad Earth
-Ray Lamontagne!!!
-Barrel House Mamas
-Missy Higgins
-Bring back Brett Dennen
-Steven Kellogg and the sixers
-Martin Sexton
-Adelle
I agree with Tom…PAUL SIMON would be awesome! Others:
The Felice Brothers
The Avett Brothers
Railroad Earth
Bonnie Prince Billy
Cornmeal
Elephant Revival
Oh yeah…Neil Young…that’s a great idea too!
Also consider Delta Spirit (saw them open for Dr Dog and these guys have heart for days!)
2-cents (seconds on):
Crooked Still
The Duhks
Clumsy Lovers
Del McCoury Band
Oliver Mtukudzi
Dr John
AND Bruce Hornsby and Ricky Skaggs were GREAT last year!
Another suggestion would be Iris Dement. She’s got great songs.
In no particular order

Jerry Douglas
Del McCoury
Peter Rowan
Edgar Meyer

The long Shots:
Phish (they are reuniting you know…I know I am going to take heat for this one)
The Dead
Bonnie Raitt
Willie Nelson
John Prine
Pete Seeger (that would be so ridiculously awesome and necessary)
Neil Young (please please, I know it’s a long shot, but please)
Eddie Vedder (just gonna throw that one out there and say go listen to the Into the Wild Soundtrack and watch him play the euk.)
John Denver (I guess that is kind of a long, long shot, eh?)
Jerry Garcia (even longer???)
Bill Monroe (guess I probably went too far with that one)
The unusuals:
Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe
Head for the Hills (Ft. Collins)
Taj Mahal (I saw him recently and he rocked the house)
Clumsy Lovers (they are fun)
Slack Family Bluegrass Band (they are kind of fun)
Tom Catmull and the Clerics (I am from Missoula, Montana and must do a shameless plug for my favorite local band)
Buena Vista Social Club (that would be an interesting fun one…probably have to get the ok from Fidel)
Some sort of tribute to the late, great Utah Phillips
I think that is enough…
A good suggestion for something slightly veering away from bluegrass is the Fleet Foxes. They would be perfect for this setting. If you haven’t heard their critically acclaimed self-titled album it’s like CSNY if Brian Wilson was in the band and they rented a cabin in the Northern Cascades and wrote an album together
.
ohhhhh. eddie vedder would be very nice. there are some other discs of his solo stuff floating around, besides into the wild. he would also be a good fit for folks fest as well.
The New Riders of The Purple Sage
Railroad Earth!!! The timing couldn’t be better
Greensky Bluegrass (openers for a RRE Sheridan Nightgrass)
Second(or third):
Son Volt
Neil Young
Tony Furtado

Bring Back John Prine, please!
