The thing is, I pretty much would come no matter who was there because I love seeing all our friends again but it’s a long, Long way from Australia, ( cause, you know, um Telluride is not actually near any airports that connect with Australian international flight paths, if only you were outside LA). Part of the fun is working out interesting ways to get there. This year we are flying Melbourne- Sydney - Dallas- Montrose and catching the shuttle. I don’t want to add it up but with turn around times and connections it is probably thirty two hours…So no complaining folks about having to park a Car fifteen minutes away! Dedication! Yeah, it’s that great.
Back to the big tease. I want to see Greensky; would love to have Billy Strings there even though I’ve never seen him live I love his stuff; you know our search for AK and Union Station will never stop, it is the Holy Grail and I’m a massive fan of the OHellos. And, cause it’s the 45th birthday I’d like a party with Jimmy Buffet. I pretty much love all the music I’ve heard at Telluride and of course, I adore Hiuse Band, Hot Rize, etc, just figured that that is a given.
If you want to cut your Dallas-Montrose flight we might be able to hook you up with a ride. We aren’t to far north of Big D. And could appreciate some good drop bear stories. We got to hold and feed a baby kangaroo this weekend, sooo cute! I’m also down for the Jimmy B. party night. He just built a new casino concert venue, and I was lucky enough to have media credentials for opening night!! Buffet in a 5,000 seat brand new venue= killer!
Hey Todd that is so kind of you. I’m actually travelling with Louise ( who has been once before, she says hi everyone) and two new Festy virgins so we might stick with our plans ( and everything is booked, etc) but we will catch up in Telluride.
And isn’t Jimmy just a hoot? Only saw him for the first time last year but man, what a party that was. We were in Byron Bay ( which is a great festival over here, time to visit us) and JB had the crowd up and dancing, singing. Made lots of new friends, so much fun.
Keep cuddling the baby kangaroos ( joeys) they are very cute. Sadly, adult kangaroos are terrifying in the Bush, the big ones can kill you. But with snakes, spiders, sharks, spiders, spiders, ticks, deadly starfish, sharks, did I mention spiders we get used to defying death by creature every day. It’s part of the fun.
It would be fun to see JB show up without a band, just him and a guitar. Back in the early 70s, JB was right up there as a singer songwriter, with folks like John Prine and Steve Goodman. Remember seeing him in a few Boston clubs like Paul’s Mall way back when. Who knew back the?
Did you know that Telluride features two former members of the “The Dreadful Snakes” every year? So besides bears, mountain lions and ticks you might be bit by Jerry and Bela while festivating in Colorado.
I’ve been lucky enough to see Dylan 3 times now, and he’s always been impressive. His band is super tight too. I’d love to see a Dolly set especially her more bluegrassy stuff, but you got to have a couple classics. Could you imagine Dolly singing with the house band!
Dolly sings Bluegrass like no other! And yeah I could imagine her with the house band. That Sammy he always knows when and how much. Smooth baby EPIC! OK I have a rash and goosebumps . Spill some of the beans Ferg!!
I’ve seen Dylan a lot and I have to say the last few times were really infuriating. He does not engage with audience and it felt very self satisfied. Don’t get me wrong, love his music but as a live performer he doesn’t do it for me.
Dolly? So great and I would love to see her again
I’m also a little bit in love with Miley Cyrus, she has such sass and energy. Love to see her with Dolly.
Cannot wait to see the lineup. I know it will be great
Better then chocolate! I have always adored PBG and all of its players :medal
Lucky us to have found one another. 30 years is a long time and feels really good each time I check in here I get that same ol feelin. Like somethin really good is gonna go down.
Neil Young was GREAT last year in Telluride! It was like a mini TBF as many of the same people were there. Definitely a top concert weekend experience for me.
I absolutely LOVE the Mountain Goats!!! But the one time I saw them I was severely let down by their performance. I was really drunk, and the song selection wasn’t my favorite. But no matter Johns music is super cool. You’d probably really like Jeffrey Lewis too, he’s in that same genre of “anti-folk” lo-fi acoustic.
