Let’s just say - I need to buy several Carbon offsets…
Yes, but there are 4 folks in your van! :thumbsup
bizarre I was just just on Gasbuddy.com looking at my trip and the amount of fuel and carbon I will produce. I refuse to admit how much do to extreme embarrassment.
Great web site. Thanks! :thumbsup
Holy Smokes! … gasbuddy says 795.2 for carbon footprint! 621 miles round trip. How many offsets do I have to buy??
Gasbuddy.com made me sad. My carbon footprint is supposedly over 400 lbs. even though I’m driving a Geo. I’m gonna have to see if someone wants to carpool, but I don’t know anyone going to the show. If anyone one is on the Walsenburg, Alamosa, Pagosa, Durango, Dolores route and needs a ride, I plan on driving Tuesday, spending the night in Dolores (Rio Grande Southern Hotel), and heading over Lizard Head on Wednesday morning.
I should say that I don’t feel so guilty when I think about the fact that I live half a mile from my job, often walk to work, and my wife works at home. We leave town maybe once every couple of months.
My carbon footprint will be 1,844, or 922 per person.
But to answer your question, I’ll be traveling plenty green :evil :cheers
edited to add that my daily commute consists of a train ride, 6 miles of biking and 2 miles of walking. I don’t feel so bad now.
Yikes… Over 3000 miles round trip. My gas bill is going to be almost 250$ more this year than last, that kinda hurts. You don’t even want to see my carbon footprint :eek
At least I live off grid at home and my workplace (3 miles away) is 80% solar powered, with the only battery backup system in Marin county, maybe all of northern California :flower
:peace
Ok, here are some links for you folks…
Planet Bluegrass GREEN pages, click —> HERE <—
Trip Cost and Carbon Footprint Calculator —> HERE <—
Hummmm… I can’t seem to find the link to purchase Carbon Offsets through Planet Bluegrass. If you can find that link please post it in this thread! Thanks! :thumbsup

Here is the $5.00 offset through planet bluegrass, but I am not sure how many lbs of footprint this offsets :huh
Edit:
According to the Carbonfund.org Calculators it costs about 10 bucks per ton of offset. I don’t know anything about the reliability of carbonfund.org, but seems like a good starting point to look at ways to offset your trip at the very least.
Will trade some NooBeads at the Newbie party for some offsets. I am plane pooling from Charlotte to Denver with 200 plus people. Then plane pooling to Montrose with a handful.
:cheers
Think they had a spot at the festival where you could contribute as well
By “green” do you mean how much money am I throwing down to rent a car that will get us there because we don’t trust either of the cars we own?
If so, I’m traveling VERY green
:lol
:lol :lol :lol OK, that’s not exactly what was meant by “green”, but I hear ya just the same! How many in the car pool? Purchase, or plan to purchase, and carbon offsets yet? Just five bucks a head! :thumbsup
Auntie Hope :festivarian2 :green
The good news is that the car I’m renting, being new, gets pretty good mileage.
I plan to purchase offsets for everyone in our party; there are 9 of us total (but only two in my car). We’re coming from all over the country, else we’d carpool more.
Anyone know for sure if we can pay for offsets at a booth at the fest this year, or if they’re online-only now? I saw someone just said they thought there’d be a booth.
Pretty sure there was a booth last year and we’ll see it again this year! :thumbsup

OK, I’m embarrassed. What are offsets? :huh
:wave Here’s one info page for you.
