Michelle certainly didn’t seem odd when she appeared at Folks Fest a couple years ago, but she went on an anti-gay tirade at Yoshi’s in San Francisco over the weekend. She can say she’s born again, but I don’t think even most Christian-rockers would support her. Fan base will probably be limited to Westboro Baptist Church now. The audience at Yoshi’s walked out en masse.
Oh man- that stinks. Hope nothing like that goes down at TBF. I’m going to try block it out during her set but it will probably be in the back of my mind
Wow, agreed BB. Will be difficult to enjoy a Gospel Set with her after hearing about this… :huh
I agree as well… I was looking forward to a good gospel set but not sure I can support her by watching now.
I just unsubscribed from her email newsletter.
I hope PB replaces her if the social media news proves to be true/confirmed
I hope the Planet will consider following the lead of the many venues which have canceled Michelle Shocked gigs in response to this incident. While I know various factors (including technical ones, like contracts) come into play here, I would hate to see a financial value being placed on the morals of human equality
I am all about free speech and expression, however, and if her set doesn’t get canceled, I can sure tell you Sunday morning of festival ain’t the worst time to get a bit more sleep.
A couple news outlets have reported that Telluride has officially canceled her appearance, but I haven’t seen an official post on Planet Bluegrass web site. You would think that if were true, Planet Bluegrass would be a little more proactive telling people just what the status of Michelle’s appearance was.
You’re kidding, right?

I believe it’s official…
