History of TP events?

I’ve been wondering lately about how and when all the TP pre fest shenanigans came about? Which ones that are still a thing are the oldest traditions? Who started them? What events are no longer produced? In your personal opinion what event current or past was the best ever?

I would probably have to say that the longest streak would have to be rumballs and tropical Tuesday, with Bloody Mary Monday the next runner up.

Run-a-muck’s oyster feed died out after Jerry moved away from the Bay Area, and the Smuggler’s Birthday Bash died a horrible death at the hands of the staff there. :burn
The beer tasting has been an up and down event that has happily seen an uptick recently. :cheers

The pot-luck at Camp Billy has been going on for some time as well, but the Free Box Fashion Show just sort of fizzled out. A lot of fun times were had there. :lol

Clarissa’s slide show used to be a popular event as well, but she hasn’t been in quite a while.

I think I’d have to say, the biggest and best event we ever had was feeding the entire Town Park campground Eggs Benedict one year. An event yet to be topped. :flower

While this will be my 32nd Telluride it took me a half dozen years to find town park. The M.A.S.H tent was already hosting the runballs and I think that the potluck, bloody mary’s and tropical Tuesday were going on as well. The Leftover Salmon folks started camping in 1986. Camp Flamingo used to have a Mai tai party on Thursday. And A.J. and the run amuck crew hosted the cannabis cup on Wednesday at high noon. And Boulder Dave and crew used to have a turkey fry one night as well.

Such fun traditions and live to be apart! Hope you are all well and can’t wait to see you all!
