Greetings:
I have a HUGE collection of bluegrass concert masters and 1st gen tapes from a deceased friend, of 1980’s bluegrass I need help with digitizing. dougricex at me dot com
My retirement project has been locating and digitizing live music recordings from private collections.
This includes fan recordings from the audience (“bootlegs”), Recordings by sound engineers and industry people both soundboard and audience, and more.
A collection I am working on from an old friend that died like 20 years ago has an INSANE amount of bluegrass and BG Festivals, apparently in their entirety, recorded.
I like bluegrass but not quite THIS much. I am looking for a super bluegrass nut that may want to transfer them and return them. I am not the owner of the tapes: a deal would be needed to do anything with them other than listen and enjoy. That said, I don’t think there’s any strong feeling of ownership on their part, more a desire to honor our late friend by not losing this collection! Do you know any super bluegrass bands with the ability to digitize cassettes, DAT’s, and video?
Here are some examples of festivals that are well represented in the collection, mostly soundboard tapes: Winter hawk video 1992 Winter hawk 89 audio Lots of Tony rice unit IBMA 1989 audio Winter hawk 87 Mariposaa 1989 IBMA 1988 Owensboro 1989 Peaceful valley 1990 Alpine 1984. dougricex at me dot com
