Too bad I won’t see her in Telluride again this year…
but, Happy Birthday anyway.
I remember one year in the mid 90’s when she wasn’t on the bill and she showed up at TBF on a vacation. I was walking by the old Biota Club and heard her singing from the sidewalk. Have I told this story before? Anyway, I tried to go in and the owner of the club said he was closed down for a private rehearsal. It was Emmylou, Sammy, John Randall, Byron House and Larry Atamanik. I hung around for a bit and the owner said, “I’ll let you come in if you watch the door for me” He didn’t have to ask me twice! I do remember letting Gene and Wendy from the Springs, in to take some pictures.
The next day, it was a Saturday at Elks Park, Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter were doing a workshop in the pouring rain. They said they wanted to bring up a special guest and it was Emmylou! She then later appeared on Shellman stage with the Sam Bush band.
So you never know, she may need another vacation. Does any one remember what year that was? I do remember it rained a lot.
Newsflash! I see Emmylou is playing the Lilth Fair in Denver at the Comfort Dental Amphitheatre on July 13!
i’m 29, she’s 63, and i would drop all of my possessions and give up everything i had for a chance to get a date with her. !LOVE!
Just to let you know… You’re in line behind Telluride Tom. :lol
Happy Birthday, Emmylou! :cake
