general questions for newbies! thanks!

Hello we will be arriving friday night and going to the saturday shows. I know people will have their tarps already set up so we realize we will be in the back by the time we get there. So should we not worry about standing in line saturday morning or just go in a grab a spot in the back after the gates open for the show? Just a general question for a couple of newbies. Just curious if there is plenty of space for late arrivals at the festival? Also, any general tips for new timers are appreciated. Can’t wait!! Thanks for any responses.

If you are only coming for the Sat. show on the 19th, but arriving Friday, I would suggest that if you DON"T have a place to stay, that you get in line with some chairs and a cooler with some food and beverages, meet some new folks, and then… in the morning you will be in line for a good number, which will get you into the tarp run video and excitement of running, AND a good place for your tarp. It could be a wild experience and a memory for a lifetime!
Plus, if it is before the music ends on Friday, you can probably hear it too!

All tarps are removed each night… So, Sat is a new day.

Kiley,
The tarps are run each and every morning. There is no ‘overnight’ real estate on the festival field. The tarps also come up during popular shows, or in general, in the evening.

Hope this helps!

thanks. We are actually arriving late friday night and staying in lawson hill so good to know. we could only get saturday night festival tickets but will be staying sunday night as well. How is the lawson hill camping…pretty fun? will there be people playing music of any sort over there? Just really wanting to hang around and get some of the FESTIVAL experience!!

Can we bring a cooler to the show? Strange ? to me but better to be sure…

You can bring most anything you want except alcohol, glass and I think video equipment…

Kiley,
Keep checking the board near the box office for Sunday tickets once you arrive. You might just find some available.

I just heard recently how wonderful it is to camp at Lawson from a fella named Lauren! You’ll have a blast! :thumbsup

For the Record:
Festival Guidelines

[b][i]Think of these as suggested Planetary codes…“rules and regulations” seems so harsh and reminiscent of grade school home room. Nevertheless, the Festival experience is more pleasant for everyone involved when we all adhere to the following…

*No dogs are allowed anywhere at the Festival. This includes cars, campgrounds, parking lots and condos. Dogs do not like crowds, heat or traffic.
* Alcohol, Glass and Video Cameras are not allowed on the Festival grounds. You are welcome to bring your own food and soft drinks in appropriate containers. We serve beer and wine at the Festival (don’t forget your ID) and we have a wide assortment of vendors with reasonably priced yummy food, cool crafts, clothes and other stuff. Taping is permitted unless the performing artist requests otherwise.
* Dancing & hula hooping are welcome in designated areas.
* Sorry, no frisbee playing in the Festival.
* Please use only low back chairs in front of the sound booth on the Festival grounds. If we can roll a basketball under it we will ask you nicely to move behind the sound booth.
* Children 12 and under are free for the Festival and camping, but must be accompanied by a paying adult.
* In the spirit of Festivarianism, if you see an empty tarp, feel free to have a seat until the owner returns.

A reminder for Newbies and Festivarians in general for this year.

NO MOON LIGHT!

The New Moon, I believe, is June 12th.

Bring your FLASHLIGHTS in whatever form they may take… especially you Newbies.

:bat Boulders, Rocks, tree roots and old logs await you in the dark! :bat

Wow, I didn’t even think of that. Thanks, Hope.

he New Moon never dawned on me.

There’s an astronomy joke in there somewhere… Either that, or it’s from a Tom Waits song that escapes me.

It ‘dawned’ on me quite quickly in 2007, when I was caught after dark without my flashlight, and that boulder jumped out and tripped me. I came up with grass in my teeth! :huh

didnt even think of that since you didnt really need one Saturday night. thanks!

That would have been “S.O.B.” He gets like that sometimes. You also need to watch out for “F#%$in A”, “Crap!!!”, and the nastiest tree root of all, “Oh $#!t”.

Keep coming back…once you get on a first name basis with most of the nastier obstacles, they take it easy on you.

Oh $#!t".

Is that the one on the trail up to the Reserve area???LOL

don’t forget about “Hey now! What the hell?”

Solar lights are nice to light a path or at least the entry area to your tent.

It’s one of TWO or MORE boulders between the bath house and the creek tha ttook me down in 2007! :lol

Another great thing to come out of Telluride… reusable SHOPPING BAGS! Bring your bags for those runs into town for last minute “oh, we forgot” food!
