Wouldn’t ya know it. My wife and I just bought a mountain home up in Mars Hill, and wouldn’t you know it Yonder and Furthur all in the middle of the week in Asheville when we cant be up there due to teaching in FL. Oh well we did get 7th row for Miami and GA for Orlando and will get to see Yonder3 times the following week. Just really lookin forward to catching the shows in Asheville. Maybe we will be living there full time sooner than later

Ahhhh Asheville…
The best place to live for bluegrass & good music lovers in my opinion! I have never lived in such a small town with so many cool venues and awesome local bands and pickers, with such a good vibe to round it all off! Asheville is like the best kept secret for all those nature-friendly music-loving happy people wanting to keep close to the Appalachian mountains. Ooops, maybe I shouldn’t rave about it too much then…
Anyway, I just wanted to say, you won’t regret moving to the Asheville area, and it’s never too soon! You mention Furthur and Yonder, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Over the last three months I saw so many good shows I don’t know where to start! From big names like the Infamous Stringdusters, Sierra Hull, Uncle Earl, Sara Watkins… to all the local treasures: Steep Canyon Rangers, Shannon Whitworth Band, Town Mountain, Acoustic Syndicate, Songs From The Road Band, Dehlia Low…
And don’t forget the local bluegrass jams where you get to hear all the local pickers who are already in a band/ about to join a band/ about to make it big/ just love playin’
best of all is probably the abundance of locally brewed beer… Ahhhhh Asheville… :love

I hear ya Lalagay

Wait I thought you lived in England maybe I have my board regulars mixed up. Wow that is cool that you live in Asheville. I hear ya about the live music my wife and I swung down last April to begin looking for a cabin low and behold we see Tim Obrien at the Grey Eagle. A few months back we make a final trip to finish buyin and bam Railroad Earth. The weekend we we finally moved in and members of the Steep Canyon Rangers were playin at Jack of the Wood. Had to sit that one out too tired. We have one foot in that door now and as soon as we can free ourselves from Florida then we will finally be free in Appalachia

Tim

Well, sadly, my over-enthusiasm is due in part to the fact that I had to leave :frowning:
I was living in Asheville with Dayton for the last 3 months, but now I’m back in London (UK), since immigration doesn’t let you in that easy :mad
Jack of the Wood is an awesome place for local pickers (thursday nights is bluegrass jam), and that show you mention with members of the Steep Canyon Rangers was Songs From The Road Band, which was an AWESOME show! It was the cream of the crop in terms of great local pickers: Jon Stickley (guitar), Andy Thorn (banjo), Mark Schimick (mandolin)…
I love the Grey Eagle, it’s a smaller sized venue which means you get a much more intimate show and the place has a great vibe. Saw Greensky Bluegrass there in september!
Some nights you really have to pick your show, I’m pretty sure I didn’t see Railroad Earth because some other awesome band was playing the same night…
If I could live anywhere, I’d be in Asheville…

dehlia low was the night of railroad earth… wasn’t that the same night kyle and danielle got engaged…
was a good night indeed
asheville is great
and so is telluride!
and nederland…
and west virginia, and alot of other places too :hombre :clap :talk
:popcorn
are yall comin to the warren haynes christmas jam livluvgrow?
jeff austin is a special guest :rock

Hey Dayton

My wife and I will be swinging through on the 23 so we cant make the christmas jam but we will be back around the 30 for about 10 days before school starts back up. Weather permitting we will hopefully be able to make it to the Grey Eagle for Larry Keel on NYE. We have tickets for 3 nights of Yonder in Denver but are going to pass this year due to the expense
