This is one that absolutely doesn’t work for me as I long as I work for the public schools back home. I work Friday and am off Monday It would take me until Saturday night to get there. the lineup in the past has been so good that I always THINK about going and then realize that it is impossible.
Darn it LuAnna,
your one of the festies I’d hope could do it. I always forget that your an educator. It’s gonna be our first fest in a long that we can just festivate. No working.
three more years here for me… then a job awaits in Colorado schools if that is what I want to do… and I will at least be CLOSER to getting to Pagosa! there is hope.
Hey Paul it’s Dave in Denver ( from you building class at Rockygrass a couple years ago) . We make Pagosa every year and love it, we’ve been to like 9 out of 11. This year has a better line up than usual, but the camping and night time picking is worth the price of admition alone, not to mention the hot spring 1/4 mile away.
Awesome. Any help on when to arrive and where to camp would be greatly appreciated. I don’t know much about this festival of pagosa at all. Are there historical groups like Town Park or is it more like on big one.
Unfortunately, I have other plans for that weekend – still deciding on YMSB @ Red Rocks or the Allmans/Leftover/Gov’t Mule/Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi at JazzAspen.
However, I attended in 2003, and it was plenty of fun. Hopefully, the Four Corners folks will use mulch instead of hay to alleviate the mud (circa 2003).
We were just looking at that the “Jazz” Aspen line up. Where’s the Jazz??? :lol
There has been less and less every year. Great line up, why they just give up and drop the Jazz part, I don’t get.
Paul,
I LOVE the 4 Corners Fest, and I’ll be there this year for maybe the 11th time. I think I recall that the campground opens on Thursday morning at 8am. There are some “traditional” camps but nothing like the scene in Town Park. We try to grab our same spot each year, but we don’t worry as long as we’re close. In fact, everyone in the campground is maybe no more than a 1 minute walk to the stage. What a great festival. Definitely I’d advise buying the week pass at the Hot Springs while you’re there as the single-visit cost adds up quickly. They jack the price over festival week, but there’s a discount for a group (full price for the first pass and then a discount for each additional pass up to maybe 4 total).
Shoot me a note if you’ve got any other questions and I’ll be looking forward to seeing you in Pagosa!

Holy crap, I just discovered this thread. Do I need to go to this festival? I’ve never been, but have no plans for Labor Day as of yet. I think I’ll just quit my job and go to music festivals every weekend for the rest of my life. :flower :lol
I started this thread and now we have decided to once again forgo the Four Corners Festival. With great regret. Our reasons are sound however. Last Friday, mule.net (the Gov’t Mule website) announced one of four North American Warren Haynes solo acoustic shows, two of which are in Colorado. Sept 2 at the Mishawaka and the following Monday in Aspen at the Belly up.
Warren Haynes solo is one of the best live sets I’ve ever seen. So it’s off to the Mishawaka Inn for Warren.
The other consideration was one of being hideously boring and practical.
Sorry you aren’t going, Paul. However, I now NEED to go to get over this post-Rockygrass depression I’m suffering from. We were thinking of driving down after work on Thursday, which would put us there about 9:30pm. Will that be enough time to secure a decent campsite or should we take off earlier? There will be six of us.
I don’t really know as this would have been my first time to four corners. My understanding is that If you have camping passes. there is always a good place to camp.
The thing that bums me out is that I won’t be getting my Wilders fix. It’s been way to long, I’m deep in Wilders withdrawl…
Hey there Paul,
4 Corners opens at 11:00 a.m. (I believe) for vehicles and 3:00 p.m. for all others. Check out the Folkswest website for specifics. Camping anywhere is great and is not as compressed at other festivals, or doesn’t have to be anyway.
There are a lot of great work shops that you can attend at 2 different areas and sometimes they use the childrens tent too.
A couple of fun things for the kids including great things at the kids tent, my favorite is watching the activities on Sunday morning, always something special!
Hot Springs deal is something that you should do, a gentle walk down the mountain for a soak is such a pleasure.
Night time picking has always been great, even when it rained one year, still good jams.
We will see you all there!
