First time to Folks Fest Camping Question

I’m coming for the first time. Have VW bus and car camping pass. Any suggestions on where to try to set up? Is there some shady spots? We will get in line early so hope to have some choices.

Thanks!

which campground do you have a pass for? what time are you getting in line? If you are Meadow, right by the river else a lot of it is all sunny.
If you are onsite, well…it depends on how the song school will be treated this year in regards to the space they are allowed to occupy. Last year was a fiasco. Mostly what people were told was ‘Well this wouldn’t have happened, but Craig’s been down at Phish.’ Other than that and a few times here and there, lots of room is available even if you get in line at 3 or 4. Spots by the river go fast, if you are so inclined to be down that way.

Find the big orange tarp and get near there if you like late night sessions and incredible moments of music right outside your camp. Spots by the porta-johns always seem to be open for some reason.

We also drive a VW camper from Texas,
We will camp where ever we can get and you are welcome to join us,
been 3 times now missed last year.
Look for us in line Thursday, 67 red and white westy.

Is there any camping in our area or close to it? If yes then please let me know.

If you are onsite camping get in line early, we plan to be there Wed evening. If you want shade trees or near river those spots go first- you will have plenty of time in line to discuss with everyone where to go, you really do need to organize and make friends for a support group.
Also kind of depends on how many song schoolers already have spots taken.

If you get in line early you’ll get a good spot. To get a great spot-- by the river-- you have to get in line real early–like, a couple days early. But if you arrive Thursday afternoon you’ll get a good spot. There’s really not many bad spots, unless you arrive Friday at noon. Then you’ll be camping next to the port-a-potties.

Welcome to the Folks Fest! You’ll love it. Some other tips: bring warm clothes for the night, it gets cool at night. But hot during the day, so bring sunscreen. It will likely rain one of the 3 afternoons, so bring an umbrella, raincoat, etc. You’ll need festival chairs-- the kind that sit low to the ground. Tall chairs are allowed in the back only.

And you owe me 2 beers for these tips.
