Final three TBF 2012 lineup additions - Part 1...

It’s taken us a little while to finalize the last 3 artists on this year’s TBF lineup, but the lineup is now complete. So in the spirit of our initial announcements (scroll for it…) I thought I’d give each one their own post here before announcing it on the website / facebook /etc. later today.

But before sharing the new bands, there’s one lineup shift to report: Joy Kills Sorrow has moved to Sunday. They’ll be playing their gorgeous indie-folk-grass right after the Sunday gospel set (which we’ll announce shortly).

Okay. On with the first new announcement…

Know them yet? You will soon. This Texas quintet is new to Planet Bluegrass (and new to Colorado), but they’re going to absolutely own the Telluride stage.

They describe their box canyon-filling sound as “soaring and serene.” Each skilled on numerous instruments including banjos, ukes, trumpet, accordion, viola, guitars, percussion, and breathtaking 4-part vocal harmonies, they perfectly balance beautiful and quiet with lush, dramatic, and epic.

Last year Paste Magazine called them their favorite performers of the nearly 2,000 bands at SxSW and named their debut one of the year’s best albums.

I just saw them play at SxSW a week ago and I was blown away. I get goosebumps just thinking about that set. Such incredible passion in their live show.

Give their debut album a listen via this free stream. It’s a fantastic record start to finish. I can’t stop listening to it.

Seryn will be playing early on Friday after the incredible opening duo of Edgar Meyer & Mike Marshall. What a gorgeous way to start the Friday of the 39th Telluride Bluegrass…

They sounds AWESOME!! This is what I’m talking about… great to hear some new bands, on the verge. The Telluride stage is great for just this kind of act.

Very excited to hear more… “serene and soaring” is a great description!

This band must be hot cause as soon as I clicked on the album link the fire alarm went off in my office… :eek

Looks like I have something to listen to when I get home… From the description, it sounds promising.

Wow strong, powerful sound. :medal :medal :medal :clap

These guys sound awesome! Can’t wait to hear them live in the Mountains! Nice find PB, and nice lineup too! Is it June yet? :cheers

Listening to Seryn now, and loving them! What a great addition to the lineup.

I think this is a terrific booking. Listening to them, you can practically see the mountains behind Town Park. Their “Fleet Foxes-ish” type sound will really stand out from any other band on the roster. The have very fine harmony vocals and arrangements.

This is a prime example of why PB rosters are the gold standard of festival bookings.

Seryn is a great band from Austin and they rock :thumbsup good job getting em in the line up. Applause! :cheers

Nice. Looking forward to seeing them soon!
