Dogs in TP

So, I am planning to get into TP on Saturday, set up camp, and head out to the high country for a few days of backpacking before the fest. I was wonderin’ if a fellow could have a dog in town park for a couple of hours on Saturday whilst we set up? The dog really wants to go backpackin’

In short, no.

No pets are allowed in the campground beginning on Saturday morning.

Sorry, but it’s just too much of a slippery slope for us to make an exception.

Only service dogs are allowed, so if you’re blind it’s not a problem. :flower

Heck just let him go chill with the other dogs in town. I swear I have never seen so many dogs in chill mode as I see every year in Telluride. I guess If I was a dog and I lived in that town I would be chillin too

Let’s be honest, if I was a freaking wolverine, I would be chill in Telluride.

This is NOT a good idea, the town dog catcher is ruthless about unsupervised dogs during festival.I believe the bail is like $250 to get your four legged out of doggy jail. That would put a damper on my summer vacation.

To Be honest, he’s a very nice person, but really likes his job and he’s very good at it!

I don’t believe livluv was being literal, but Hippie is absolutely correct … it wouldn’t be a good idea. Maybe arrange for a paid sitter in advance or as the festival approaches see who else you know is going who might have a couple hours to spare. I’d generally say bringing dogs to the festival is not the optimal thing to do, but an overnight camping trip can definitely be doggie heaven for some dogs … which could easily tip the scales IMO.

You guys are completely correct… I too, may be faced with an overnight, pre fest stay with a companion that has four legs (yes folks she really is a dog)… Fortunately I have a friend in town with a back yard where she can be tied out, thus I will be staying at her house instead of my wonderful tent in Town Park.

And where will your dog be during the festival? Do you have boarding arranged? Maybe if you look for petsitters in Tride online you could find someone who will take him for a few hours while you set up camp.
And if it doesn’t work out for the dog, then you can always NOT go backpacking and stay in TP for all the many wonderful “pre-fest” activities, and take pup on a trip when you get back home.

and maybe, just maybe, you could could contact Cindy Lou, she might just know of a “Doggy Waldorf” just a couple of hours from TBF :medal Mika will be staying there this year, and she is ecstatic about the idea; Even though she has not had it yet

And yes, … … … This is an unsolicited announcement, it is also subject to an entrance exam.

Courtney and I boarded our dogs at Wash-n-Watch Dogs in Redvale. It is no-cage boarding.

They came to Town Park to pick up the dogs the Friday before Landrush and brought them back Monday morning after the festival So convenient… and affordable! The dogs had such a blast.
Check 'em out! Good luck! :dog

Thanks for all the great advice. I recon we will go the wash-n-wach folks.
