Camping spots at Town Park

Newbie camping at Town Park.
Are there assigned spots or first come first serve? Thanks!

First come.

As Todd said, it is first come, first serve so your best bet at getting your desired spot is to get there as early as you can. There will still be decent spots though all week.
For your info, there are established camps that set up pretty much in the same spots every year and they can take up quite a bit of space. I’d suggest making friends with folks in those camps and they may just invite you to set up nearby. That can be a lot of fun.
Like I said, the earlier you can get there the better, and that also gets you there while all the fantastic pre-fest events take place in Town Park! They are not to be missed!

Sorry for the additional questions but will I have room at the camp location to bring a table and chairs to cook?

There’s a new lottery system to get in town park which is awful. Def hasnt been this way for the past years ive been. Showed up at 1 and got turned away until 145. If someone from Planet Bluegrass sees this please got back to the old system and if you need to do a lottery do it closer to the actual festival. They hand out tickets at 2, then walk you to a bridge where they let people in 5 at time, then you can lay down your tarp, walk to the camp host to get a “town park parking slip” so you can walk back to your car and drive back to town park to unload your stuff, then walk back to the camp host to get an actual park pass to park in town. Given it’s Saturday before the fest. All these extra steps for a system that was working fine for 50 years.
