Hey, I’m trying to decide if I should arrive early for the camping lottery. What does getting a better spot do for you? Is there a possibility of getting a shady spot or is everything in the sun? Or what is the benefit of getting a better number in the lottery?

one side of onsite camping is on the river, and the area up close to the entry is coveted (and often already occupied by Academy attendees). there are some trees for shade throughout the area but ez ups are a good idea. there really aren’t any “bad”
spots in my opinion.
