I was planning on doing the Bridal Veil hike one of the mornings during the fest. I was wondering if anyone knew how long it would take to hike up and back as well as any other tips or advice. Is it a difficult hike?
I’ve done the Bridal Veil hike, and while it is a great view from the top, but the hike is quite boring. You’re essentially hiking on a road, not a trail. I’d recommend either hiking up Bear Creek or Jud Weibe. Those are much more fun and rewarding hikes.

I was also thinking about trying to get a hike in on Saturday. How does the parking situation work once the festival start? Would I be able to take my car to a hiking trail and then bring it back to the designated parking areas? I apologize for any dumb questions, this is my first time at TBF.

You will not be able to drive your car in town as of Wednesday afternoon.
Roads are open for local residents of Telluride only. Once your car is
parked in a designated area, thats where it stays until you leave.
If you can bring a bicycle, It is by far the best and most fun way to get
around! My party rides from Warner Field out to Telluride Brewing Co.
one day of the fest. Beautiful 7 or 8 mile round trip ride on a fantastic bike path
with a MAJOR reward at the halfway point. A pint of Tempster IPA from
a local brewey!!!

You can move your car after it’s been parked, but your spot will not be held. If you move your car to drive to a trail, when you get back, you will very likely have to park in a new lot, possibly even in Mountain Village. There are plenty of wonderful hikes you can do right in town that won’t require a car.
I’d go along with HS … it’s a cool view, but it’s also a jeep road which can get a fair amount of vehicular traffic which is a bit of a nuisance / fumes. Having said that, if you have a vehicle with relatively high clearance and are OK with driving to the top of the falls, and can find a spot to park, it’s a nice head start to hike up even higher to such spots as Blue Lake, Silver Lake, or above Ingram Falls (can’t drive, it’s one way). But even driving to the top of falls is slow going and will take time.
Bear Creek is a safe bet as far as not being too strenuous with great views and being away from the grid. Jud Weibe is a bit more strenuous, but great views looking down onto the town / valley.
I agree with avoiding Bridal Veil, unless you can get up there via (4wd / high clearance) vehicle. It’s a great place to start a hike, to places like Blue Lake, Silver Lake, or the top of Ajax. Bear Creek and Jud Weibe are great short hikes. I like going up Bear Creek starting from Town Park (respect any closure zones). If you want a longer option, Sneffels Highline is one of the most amazing hikes I’ve done in all of Colorado.

In regards to moving your car Hot Sugar is spot on. I have done this in the past (driven my truck to a TH for hiking) but once you get back your spot will be gone. Depending on the day you will likely need to re-park at Mountain Village and take the gondola back to town.
For hiking many great options have been mentioned. Bear Creek is nice because you can start right from the Town Park campground. I really like Jud Weibe; as mentioned great views looking down on Telluride and also across to Bridal Veil. If you want to extend your hike you can connect onto the Sneffels Highline Trail right from Jud Weibe - although you will likely start to encounter some snow higher up on the Highline Trail. Bridal Veil is likely worth doing once; it’s fun to stand under the falls and get a nice cool spray of water after the hot walk up the road.

I usually run up Bear Creek when I get into town, and run up to Bridal Veil and beyond at some point during the festival. Last year I went up to Blue Lake, and it was pretty hard to get there. Still snowed in.
We do Weibe every year. My fave! Bear Creek is great too. It’s a road as well, but splits off to a single track at the top.
You do have to have a barricade pass in order to drive into town during the festival.
If you are parked in town (you got there early enough) and want to drive out to a hiking spot, then you will have to park in Mountain Village when you return.
