Bike down from Mt Village

So I know some locals have told me in years past that they have done this, due to house sitting responsibilities.

Is it even feasible for a non-local type?

Is it likely to cause serious bodily injury?

I know I should not worry unneccesarily about Tarp Line etc…

May just wait for the first ganjala, but I like the comraderie of the line and enjoy the early hours of T-Ride waking and often baking as well.

I have a (healed) torn rotator cuff that says “bad idea”. I guess you could take an easier trail, or the road, but it’s a jaunt. Last year we were in Mt. Village and I walked to the ganjala to be there at 7 when they start. They really start about 6:50. That trip each day netted me somewhere around 375-425, and 2/4 days we could have been in the low back section up front. If you don’t get right up there from the tarp line, just go up and make friends! Everybody is friendly! I wouldn’t risk that ride if I were you. I know there is probably an easy paved way to get there but I never found it.

Behind the peaks hotel in MV, there is a trail called Boomerang. It connects to the River Trail on the valley floor and you can take that right into town or out towards the highway to the bike path near the gas station. It is a downhill rocky path, I would say it’s easy for an experienced mountain biker. But enter at your own risk.

Thanks! OddsFired!

Like I said, trying to not stress about it, know we’ll undoubtedly have a great time regardless.

Since we haven’t stayed up there before, not all that clear on the lay of the land; not even sure how far from our accomodations to the Ganjala yet.

Never had any problems making friends, but asking to share a tarp, might not be my first choice for opening lines either.

Just the two of us, unless the Bro -in-law decides to actually come into the fest proper, but still know that 4 X 5 represents some premium square footage for many, if not most

Guess we’ll see what next week brings…

Just like to be in front of the dusty trail instead of behind it for several obvious reasons…

Best advice I can give you is don’t bother with the free shuttle. It starts at 7, but it will be EASILY 730 by the time you get to the ganjala. Just get up early and huff it to the gondola or take the bike path mentioned above.

I kind of planned on riding my bike to the Ganjala, rather than huffing it? Perhaps I should not plan on being able to bring my bike down first run?

Wise decision grasshopper. The ganjala has a bike rack so take it with out and scope it out on the ride down. You’ll be riding over the HARDEST part, so look to your left (if memory serves) for a green trail view.
